As a gamer with a penchant for both scripted and unscripted TV, I couldn’t be more thrilled about Jeffrey Dean Morgan taking the helm of NBC’s new adventure reality series, Destination X! With his extensive background in both worlds – from Grey’s Anatomy to The Walking Dead, Supernatural, and even Magic City (which, let’s face it, was a bit of a magic trick itself) – he’s the perfect choice to navigate this global guessing game.
Actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been selected as the host for NBC’s forthcoming adventure-based reality show, titled Destination X.
As a fan, I’m thrilled about my new discovery – an exciting show that I’ve recently stumbled upon! This production is a unique take on geography, as it challenges contestants to identify their location worldwide, all while encountering subtle modifications to the real world intended to confuse them. What makes this even more intriguing is that it marks the debut of Normandie True, known for her roles in “The Walking Dead” and “The Boys”, venturing into unscripted television for the first time!
As a gamer speaking about Morgan, I can share that he’s got quite a resume in TV too. He’s been part of hit shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Supernatural, Weeds, The Good Wife, Magic City, and Texas Rising. When it comes to the big screen, you might recognize him from P.S. I Love You, Watchmen, and soon in Nowhere Men. Quite a diverse career path, wouldn’t you say?
Jeffrey Dean Morgan portrays the cunning global enigma, which makes him an ideal host and mastermind for this upcoming travel-themed series, as stated by Corie Henson, NBCUniversal’s executive vice president of unscripted content, competition, and game shows. In collaboration with the BBC, NBC is adapting the format of Destination X.
Previously, the broadcasters collaborated for the reality series without a script named “The Traitors“, with Alan Cumming as its host.
In his own words, Morgan expressed his excitement saying, “Destination X enchanted me with its combination of travel, intrigue, and gaming. I’m eagerly anticipating my role as the Host in this worldwide treasure hunt, leading players through obstacles that put their cognitive and physical skills to the test.
In the year 2023, the “Destination X” series debuted on Belgium’s commercial network, VTM. The American adaptation of this series will be produced by Twofour, which is under ITV Studios, and also by Universal Television Alternative Studio, a branch of Universal Studio Group.
Morgan, Andy Cadman, Lee Smithurst, Dan Adamson, and David Clews are set to serve as executive producers. Twofour will additionally produce the forthcoming BBC adaptation of “Destination X.” The presenter for the British version has yet to be revealed.
