Jenna Ortega Addresses Possible Dance Scene Sequel in Wednesday Season 2

Jenna Ortega Addresses Possible Dance Scene Sequel in Wednesday Season 2

As a die-hard fan of Tim Burton’s twisted and whimsical universe, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the return of Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams in Season 2 of the Netflix series, not to mention her upcoming role in the long-awaited Beetlejuice sequel. The young actress has proven herself to be a chameleon, seamlessly slipping into the eerie and enigmatic character of Wednesday while also captivating audiences with her electrifying dance moves.

In the realm of television, I eagerly anticipate the return of “Wednesday” Season 2, graced once more with its captivating ensemble, intriguing characters, and visually stunning sets. However, it seems that the show’s most infectious viral moment – Wednesday Addams’ dance at the Halloween dance, set to the rhythmic beats of “Goo Goo Muck” by The Cramps – might not make a repeat appearance in this season. As Jenna Ortega’s enigmatic Wednesday navigates the halls of Nevermore Academy, a sanctuary for misfits, she finds herself entangled in a web of mysterious deaths while simultaneously grappling with the less extraordinary aspects of school life, such as attending a Halloween dance. This scene, with its catchy tune and iconic moves, ignited a social media frenzy that has left an indelible mark on pop culture.

During a chat with Extra TV regarding her performance in Tim Burton’s film “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” Ortega was questioned about the potential for dance scenes in Season 2. The actress revealed that she has filmed four episodes of the upcoming season, but as of now, there are no plans for additional dancing on screen. However, Ortega left fans excited by suggesting that a dance scene might still be included in later episodes of Season 2. Ortega mentioned:

As far as I know, nothing is scheduled. However, I have a feeling there might be something coming up that I won’t be happy about.

Excitingly, I’m sharing the news that filming for Season 2 of ‘Wednesday’ is underway on this very Wednesday, taking place in Ireland. Although the official cast list for Season 2 hasn’t been revealed yet, it seems likely that our favorite characters from Season 1, like Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers), Morticia Addams (Catherine Zeta-Jones), and Gomez Addams (Luis Guzman) will all be back for more adventures. Newcomers to the ‘Wednesday’ universe are also joining us this season, with Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Haley Joel Osment, Joanna Lumley, Frances O’Connor, and Thandiwe Newton set to appear. But here’s a twist that has me particularly enthused – Christopher Lloyd, who brought Uncle Fester to life in the classic ‘The Addams Family’ movies from 1991 and 1993, will be making a guest appearance in Season 2!

Wednesday Made Tim Burton Want to Direct Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

Tim Burton often collaborates with a group of familiar faces in his films, choosing to work with them repeatedly. In the past, he has teamed up with actors like Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Christopher Lee, and Michael Gough in various projects. It seems that Jenna Ortega could be an excellent addition to this established cast, as she is set to reappear in Burton’s universe for the much-anticipated sequel, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice“. While a follow-up to “Beetlejuice” might have seemed inevitable due to Hollywood’s fondness for legacy sequels, it was initially not part of Burton’s plans.

On Wednesday, Burton’s initial venture into television reignited the director’s passion for filmmaking, which he had previously grown disillusioned with and even contemplated retirement from multiple times. However, during his work on Netflix’s “Wednesday”, the fervor he once held returned, as he put it:

“On Wednesday, I was reminded of what I love about creating things. It felt like producing a film within a TV timeline – fast-paced and exhilarating. We weren’t planning for a follow-up at that point, as the concept of franchises hadn’t become common yet. The first time I encountered the term ‘franchise’, though, was during Batman Returns, and it sent a shiver down my spine.”
