Jennifer Coolidge Appears in Latest Trailer for A Minecraft Movie

This upcoming spring, Warner Bros. Pictures is set to unveil another video game adaptation on the big screen: “The Minecraft Movie,” directed by Jared Hess, who’s known for films like “Napoleon Dynamite” and “Nacho Libre.” While Sonic the Hedgehog 3 ruled the box office during Christmas, this new release is expected to captivate audiences in April.

In a short while, the movie is set to hit the screens, and a fresh sneak peek has been unveiled, offering fans glimpses of the Overworld and its denizens. Although Jack Black and Jason Momoa have spearheaded all promotional activities, this latest trailer hints at an additional cast member joining the ensemble.

Jennifer Coolidge is in the Minecraft Movie

The latest preview for A Minecraft Movie revealed that Jennifer Coolidge is part of the cast.

In the trailer, Coolidge’s brief appearance hints at something about her character without giving specific details. Fans initially thought the entire film would unfold in the Overworld, but it appears a villager has somehow ventured into our world, suggesting a possible narrative similar to that of the movie Pixels, which involves characters moving between digital and real-life worlds.

It’s merely an assumption at this point, but there’s a chance that Coolidge might portray the mother of one of the main characters. If so, it could be either Henry (Sebastian Hansen) or Natalie (Emma Myers). Playing the mom of the lead character, Henry, would be somewhat expected; however, she could equally be the mom of the secondary human character, Natalie.

Given that director Hess often creates films featuring adult males with childlike traits, it’s not unreasonable to think she might portray Jason Momoa’s mother.

Other Cast Members Yet to be Revealed

Despite Kate McKinnon (from Saturday Night Live) and Jemaine Clement (known for Moana and Flight of the Conchords) being part of the film, there are still some major cast members yet to make an appearance in the movie.

In other words, it’s merely conjecture at this point, but if Steve is included as a character in the film, comedian Kate McKinnon might portray Alex, who is Steve’s girlfriend, and one of the standard character skins for players.

As The Last of Us Season 2 is anticipated to take over online conversations in April, Minecraft uniquely contributes a lighter note to the Spring movie scene.
