Jennifer Garner Shares “Guilt” After She “Lost a Friend” in L.A. Wildfires

Jennifer Garner has posted that she “unfortunately lost a friend” due to the destructive wildfires still burning in Los Angeles.

On Friday, the actress lent a hand with José Andrés from World Central Kitchen to provide meals for those forced to flee due to the Palisades Fire. Later, she spoke to Katy Tur on MSNBC about the devastation caused by the fire. Additionally, she disclosed that one of her church friends perished in the flames.

Or:

On Friday, the actress joined José Andrés from World Central Kitchen to give food to those evacuated due to the Palisades Fire. She then discussed the destruction left behind by the fire with Katy Tur on MSNBC. Moreover, she revealed that a friend from her church lost their life in the blaze.

Garner mentioned that he had sadly lost a dear friend, and the topic is still too sensitive for our church, so he isn’t ready to discuss her yet. He added that his friend didn’t manage to escape in time.

The actress from “The Last Thing He Told Me,” who has resided near the Palisades for a quarter of a century, shared that her motivation for volunteering was to “have an opportunity to work and contribute in some way, to be useful.

She empathized by saying, “My heart is deeply saddened for my friends. To imagine, there are around 100 families and 5,000 homes that have been destroyed. Without a moment’s hesitation, I could effortlessly compile a list of 100 friends who have lost their homes.

Garner went on to say, “It feels almost wrong to move around in my home. I mean, what can I possibly contribute? How might I assist? What valuable resource can I provide with these hands, this space, and the security I’ve been given?

In another part of the conversation, the actress who played the lead in “13 Going on 30” commended Andrés and the World Central Kitchen for their efforts in supplying food during emergencies caused by humanitarian issues, extreme weather events, or local community challenges.

Witnessing it is simply amazing,” I’d say as a gamer. “Seeing World Central Kitchen and Chef José swoop in, they exude such assurance: ‘We’ve got your back. We’ve got this under control. There’s no need to worry.’

Starting from Tuesday, when wildfires started in Pacific Palisades and subsequently moved towards Malibu and Santa Monica, first responders have been battling multiple active fires across the Los Angeles region, such as the Eaton, Hurst, and Kenneth fires. The death toll has now reached 11 people, according to the Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s Office on Friday.

By Friday afternoon, I found myself battling four different infernos – the Kenneth Fire, Palisades Fire, Eaton Fire, and the Hurst Fire south of Santa Clarita. Fortunately, the progress we’ve made is encouraging. The Kenneth Fire, which has been causing us quite a headache, is now 35% contained. The Palisades Fire, nestled along the coastline, is showing signs of improvement with an 8% containment rate. The Eaton Fire, however, still poses a significant challenge as it’s only 3% contained. But there’s some good news too – we’ve almost got the Hurst Fire under control, with a 70% containment rate. Let’s keep pushing forward!

As a fellow admirer, I can’t help but share the heartbreaking news that countless individuals, among them many renowned figures, have tragically lost their homes due to these relentless fires. On social media platforms, they’ve been pouring out their stories, offering a poignant glimpse into the destruction and the profound effects these flames have had on their neighborhoods.
