As a lifelong Star Wars enthusiast who grew up watching the original trilogy multiple times on VHS, I can’t contain my excitement about Jeremy Allen White joining the galaxy far, far away. The news of him voicing Rotta the Hutt has sent shockwaves through my force-sensitive heart!
In the upcoming “The Mandalorian & Grogu” movie, Jeremy Allen White will be stepping into the Star Wars universe for the first time.
It’s been confirmed that The Bear actor will lend his voice to Rotta, Jabba the Hutt’s slug-like offspring. Following the events of Return of the Jedi, where Princess Leia killed Jabba, The Mandalorian and Grogu are set in a continuation. In The Book of Boba Fett spinoff series, we learned that after Jabba’s death, two of his cousins tried to seize control of his territory, but were eventually defeated by Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) and evicted. With Rotta potentially seeking to regain his father’s territory, there’s a possibility that Boba Fett and Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen) might also be involved in the storyline.
Jon Favreau, the mastermind behind The Mandalorian series, is set to direct the upcoming movie. He’ll be writing the script alongside Dave Filoni, who works on Ahsoka. Pedro Pascal is expected to return as Din Djarin/The Mandalorian/Mando, and Sigourney Weaver might join the cast in an undisclosed role. Naturally, Grogu, or Baby Yoda, will make an appearance in the movie too.
The Mandalorian & Grogu premieres May 22, 2026.
