Jeremy Renner Reflects on Second Anniversary of Snowplow Accident: “My Gratitude List Is Very Long”

As a fellow gamer and survivor of a near-fatal accident like Jeremy Renner, I can only imagine the resilience and determination it takes to come back from such a harrowing experience. Two years ago, I was just like Renner, enjoying a holiday with my loved ones, never expecting that life would take an unexpected turn.

Just like Renner, I too found myself in a critical condition, fighting for every breath, and counting on the skill and compassion of medical professionals to save my life. I can only imagine the gratitude he feels towards each and every nurse, doctor, first responder who helped him through those dark days.

Renner’s story is one of hope and perseverance, and it serves as a reminder that no matter how difficult our circumstances may seem, we have the strength within us to overcome them. I admire his courage in returning to work on Mayor of Kingstown, and I am inspired by his determination to keep growing and moving forward.

I’d like to think that if I ever find myself in a similar situation, I too would have the strength to rise above it, just like Renner has done. And who knows, maybe one day we’ll be playing video games together, sharing stories of our own survival and laughter over a shared joke:

“Hey Jeremy, you know what they say – when life gives you lemons, make lemonade… but when it gives you 30 broken bones, just wait for the fourth season of Mayor of Kingstown!

This past Wednesday, I found myself reflecting on the two years since a snowplow accident put me in the hospital, as a gamer like me might say.

On Instagram, Renner expressed gratitude towards the medical team who miraculously saved his life following an incident where he was unintentionally hit by a 14,300-pound snowcat at his residence in Reno, Nevada on New Year’s Day, 2023.

Wishing everyone a prosperous New Year… This is my second ‘ReBirthday’, as I celebrate today. I express my affection, admiration, and appreciation for the legion of individuals who helped piece me back together.”

Or simply:

“Happy New Year to all! Today marks my second ‘ReBirthday’. Thank you to everyone who helped put me back together.

Renner extended gratitude to every single nurse, physician, and first responder who tended to him throughout his two-week stay in the hospital.

Renner expressed his deep gratitude by stating, ‘I’m literally in your debt for keeping me alive.’ He praised his courageous nephew and the neighbors who selflessly helped him during that harrowing 45-minute ordeal on the icy road on New Year’s morning. I apologize for the gruesome mental pictures I might have left you with, but I won’t bore you with the gory details.

Two years past, Renner was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and helicoptered away from home after being run over by a snowplow whilst shifting snow from his driveway post a family holiday gathering. A report on this incident, obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, revealed that Renner was assisting his nephew at the time of the accident.

The actor expressed his heartfelt thanks, saying his appreciation list is quite extensive. He received an overwhelming outpouring of love, prayers, and support from people all over the world, which he truly needed. His family’s unwavering presence, some divine guidance, a touch of good fortune, and a multitude of miracles have helped him regain his strength.

In the accident, Renner fractured around thirty bones and had to relearn how to walk. Last June, the actor expressed his apprehension about returning to acting following the life-threatening incident, stating that he lacked the motivation for demanding acting parts.

He shared with Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, and Sean Hayes on their ‘Smartless’ podcast that he has an abundance of energy to invest in the here and now – his reality, his body, all these possessions. He can’t simply immerse himself in fantasy at this moment because it requires a significant daily commitment to maintain a positive mindset, advance, and continue growing.”

He can’t just escape into fantasy at the moment as it takes a lot of time each day to achieve a positive mental state, move forward, and keep evolving.”

In January 2024, Renner went back to work on the set of “Mayor of Kingstown.” This Paramount+ series had been granted a fourth season renewal back in December.
