Warning: This article contains major spoilers for Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 Finale
In a thrilling finish to its inaugural season, the series found itself in a tense standoff. Mayor Fisk has imposed martial law on New York City, setting the stage for The Punisher’s escape from Fisk’s prison. Meanwhile, Bullseye, also known as Benjamin Poindexter, is loose and unchecked in a city that is hostile to vigilantes. Matt Murdock is rallying forces to confront Mayor Fisk and his allies. With fans eagerly anticipating it, Season 2 seems primed to bring back the other Defenders, fulfilling a long-held desire among viewers.
Ever since it became known that Daredevil would join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Matt Murdock’s debut in 2021’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and his return as Daredevil in “Echo”, fans have been clamoring for the comeback of other popular characters like Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, The Punisher, and even Iron Fist, albeit less enthusiastically. Now, with Castle making a significant mark in the first season of “Born Again”, the hint at an “army” being assembled in the finale has given a strong indication that it could be time for other Defenders to emerge from obscurity.
Marvel Studios appears to have significantly altered their initial strategies for the series “Born Again,” with some speculating this shift was prompted by fan criticism over the proposed dismissal of the Netflix show and its cast members. However, whether Marvel Studios will continue to heed these fans’ opinions remains uncertain. Yet, it’s worth noting that the person who holds ultimate sway in shaping the Marvel universe is the one directing it all.
Who is Likely to Appear in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2?
Among those certain to participate in the next round of Daredevil’s violence are Swordsman, Bullseye, and The Punisher. However, it’s the question of who else will join them that has fans eagerly waiting for confirmation – a long-anticipated revelation that Jessica Jones is set to rejoin the Marvel universe.
Among all the Defenders characters, Krysten Ritter’s super-powered private investigator Jessica Jones has consistently been a beloved favorite among fans. Characters like Luke Cage are also speculated to return, but if Jessica Jones doesn’t feature in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, fans might take matters into their own hands, metaphorically speaking, and deliver some digital retribution towards Marvel Studios – though instead of physically injuring people, they would express their displeasure through aggressive online posts rather than actual violence.
For the past two years, Ritter has often expressed her affection for Jessica Jones and hinted at her readiness to step back into the role once more. She’s even posted pictures on social media showing off a “Jones look” and recently suggested she was filming in New York City, though it’s been uncertain whether this was linked to the beginning of production on the upcoming season of Born Again.
Primarily, most enthusiasts can only bide their time and observe, perhaps revisiting the entire Defenders series to fill the gap. Some hints have surfaced suggesting that Daredevil and Bullseye might be on the same team, with more tidbits likely to emerge as Marvel continues to keep secrets. The second season, however, won’t arrive until next year, making it a prolonged wait for Daredevil followers.
