As a dedicated follower of the enchanting world of Hindi cinema, I found Vedang Raina’s journey to singing a fresh rendition of Phoolon Ka Taaron Ka for his upcoming movie, Jigra, truly captivating. His life experience as an actor and musician brought a unique perspective to the process, one that resonated with the fear and anticipation many artists feel when tackling a classic song.
“The timeless Hindi track, ‘Phoolon Ka Taaron Ka’, beautifully conveys the deep affection between siblings. This tune was crafted by R.D. Burman and sung by Kishore Kumar. Lately, actor Vedang Raina from the film Jigra has given a contemporary twist to this song for his upcoming project with Alia Bhatt. Earlier hesitant due to concerns about damaging the original, he admitted that he too previously felt that reinterpretations often tarnish the initial piece. However, he eventually decided to lend his voice to one himself.
As a lifestyle connoisseur looking back on an exciting chapter, I recently had the pleasure of chatting with Tried & Refused Productions about my heartfelt interpretation of “Phoolon Ka Taaron Ka” for our upcoming cinematic gem, Jigra. Sharing the screen with the extraordinary Alia Bhatt, this song serves as a poignant backdrop to the film’s narrative, beautifully illustrating the profound essence of sibling love woven into its compelling storyline.
Originally appearing in the 1971 movie “Hare Rama Hare Krishna,” the enchanting “Phoolon Ka Taaron Ka” quickly captured hearts and has remained etched in the memories of music lovers for decades. As it was a timeless tune, Vedang felt apprehensive about offering a modern take on this cherished song.
He mentioned, “Just before speaking, a thought occurred to me, ‘I covered an RD Burman song that Kishore Kumar sang.’ It struck me, ‘Wow!’ I usually criticize cover versions of songs, thinking, ‘They’ve spoiled the original.’
Instead, he barely had a moment to respond or voice his opinions, as the song was swiftly recorded. Moreover, the recording of the song transpired several days following the completion of their filming session.
Initially, The Archies’ lead performer disclosed that they had planned to sing another tune for the same objective. However, on a particular day, the film’s director, Vasan Bala, unexpectedly instructed him to bring his guitar instead of attending a dubbing session in the movie.
Later on, when I discovered they wanted me to reinterpret “Phoolon Ka Taaron Ka” for their upcoming project, I double-checked the lyrics and psyched myself up for the task. Moreover, I found out that this song wasn’t initially intended as a standalone single. In fact, it was only recorded hastily to give the film an emotional edge during editing.
He mentioned that the song took shape when he initially released it, which seemed to resonate with listeners. Later, as the teaser trailer was being edited, the concept of recording it professionally in a studio resurfaced.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t contain my excitement! On the big screen front, Vedang Raina is making history with his debut in The Archies, set to hit theaters in 2023. But wait, there’s more! I’ve got tickets booked for October 11, 2024, when Jigra, featuring the talented Alia Bhatt alongside Vedang, is set to light up the silver screen!
