The second term of Donald Trump as President of the United States has brought forth a series of concerning events, yet there’s an abundance of fodder for late-night comedians to joke about. Humor is often seen as a powerful remedy, and on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the host served up plenty of it to the numerous viewers who tune in hoping to find some relief from the absurdity emanating from the White House these days.
This time, Jimmy Kimmel drew a parallel between Trump and the antagonist from the Saw series, John Kramer, also known as Jigsaw. The audience in the live studio erupted in laughter at this comparison. The comparison was made after Kimmel discussed Trump’s joint press conference with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, where Trump proposed that the U.S. should take control of Gaza for its own interests, potentially displacing over two million Palestinians living there. “We have a truly unstable individual leading our country at the moment,” Kimmel stated, further commenting:
In a surprising turn of events at a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday, Trump unexpectedly revealed his plan for Gaza – a proposal to permanently relocate everyone currently residing there. It’s as if the country is being managed by the antagonist from Saw movies. One can’t help but wonder if our country is in the hands of the cunning and ruthless Donald ‘Jigsaw’ Trump.
Trump’s proposal is undeniably extreme, similar to the character John Kramer in the Saw series, as he constructs intricate devices intended to eliminate those he considers morally depraved. While some might argue that the president embodies this very trait and could benefit from experiencing the consequences of such actions, whether or not this is true depends on who you ask.
Jigsaw Will Return in ‘Saw XI’
In addition to Kimmel and Trump, it’s important to mention that Tobin Bell’s character, John “Jigsaw” Kramer, is making a comeback for the upcoming installment of the Saw series. Though his character was supposedly killed in Saw III, he has continued to be a significant part of the franchise through thoughtfully crafted flashbacks. As of now, specifics about the film’s plot are scarce, but it’s likely that it will follow a similar pattern as Saw X, which served as a prequel set between Saw II and Saw III.
Talking about his recent return for Saw XI, Bell expressed his delight at the opportunity to delve deeper into the character he has played for a considerable time. In essence, he said, “I am truly enthusiastic about further exploring and growing him. There’s still so much to discover.
After the latest installment of “Saw” has been praised as one of its best since the original in 2004, it’s intriguing to speculate about where the series might go next and how viewers will react to any inventive storytelling tricks used to revive Jigsaw once more. Catch “Saw X” when it hits cinemas nationwide on Sept. 26, courtesy of Lionsgate Films.
