One of the stars from the wildly popular comedy show “Impractical Jokers,” is currently grappling with serious accusations of sexual assault. In the past few days, two individuals have stepped forward, claiming they suffered distressing incidents of sexual misconduct and inappropriate actions at the hands of this comedian. Gatto has refuted these claims, but has also announced that he will seek therapy and abandon the remaining dates on his comedy tour.
Gatto hasn’t disclosed the reason behind his decision to seek treatment at a facility, but the intense media coverage might provide some insight. Moreover, the dates for his “Let’s Get Into It” comedy tour are no longer available on the ticket-selling site where they were previously listed. Here’s a statement from Gatto (via People):
After giving it some thought, I have chosen to willingly admit myself into a residential treatment facility to further my personal growth. I’d like to express my deep gratitude to my friends, followers, and most importantly, my family, for their unwavering support—particularly during the past few days.
Joe Gatto’s downfall started on March 20th when TikToker “joozyb” claimed in a video that she had been sexually assaulted by Joe Gatto, a member of the comedy group Impractical Jokers. In her videos, she detailed the incident and alleged that it began during a photo shoot at a “Meet & Greet” event, where Gatto invited her to his hotel. She also posted a controversial image with the caption, “Yes he did S.A me. yes he had JUST gotten back together with his wife. I’m sorry you guys don’t want to hear it but.” These videos have since been removed from the social media platform. Subsequently, Gatto issued an official statement admitting to the allegations.
I’ve made mistakes in my judgment, which unfortunately led me to betray the trust of those closest to me. However, it’s important to note that I am not and have never been a person who would harm anyone. Self-improvement is an ongoing journey for me, and I’m choosing to take some time off from public life to channel my efforts where they are needed most.
‘Impractical Jokers’ Ended in 2024 After 11 Seasons on the Air
The ordeal didn’t conclude a day later when another woman voiced allegations against the comedian. A previous staff member alleged that the comedian had subjected her to harassment and emotional manipulation throughout the years she worked closely with Gatto. In an interview with People, she asserted that he physically touched her on numerous instances and harassed her via social media during the two years she collaborated with him.
In 2021, following nine seasons on a hidden camera reality program, Gatto chose to part ways from the television series that continued under the leadership of its other hosts – James “Murr” Murray, Brian “Q” Quinn, and Sal Vulcano. Gatto’s departure took everyone by surprise, and for some time, guest comedians filled his role before the show eventually concluded in 2024.
