John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate 2 director Milap Zaveri recalls his fallout with actor after film's failure; 'Was a fan of him and...'

As a dedicated follower of the Bollywood industry, I have to say that the relationship between John Abraham and Milap Zaveri is a classic case of love-turned-to-regret. It’s not often that we see directors confessing their undying affection for an actor, but Milap Zaveri certainly did in the case of Satyameva Jayate 2.

After Satyameva Jayate 2’s underperformance at the box office, there have been whispers of a disagreement between lead actor John Abraham and director Milap Zaveri. More recently, Zaveri admitted that he grew so smitten with John during production that he tailored the film to highlight the actor more than the story itself. He conceded that his fondness for John may have had unintended consequences, leading to a brief estrangement between them as John was disappointed with the film’s commercial failure.

As a lifestyle expert, I must share my insights about Satyameva Jayate 2, a much-awaited cinematic venture starring the talented John Abraham and Divya Khosla, with a whopping budget of 93 crores. However, the film’s underperformance came as an unexpected blow to the entire team. In a candid conversation with Siddharth Kannan on his YouTube channel, the film’s director acknowledged that one of the key reasons for its failure was a lack of narrative coherence. The storyline seemed to revolve predominantly around John Abraham, which the director admitted may have been a crucial factor in the film’s disappointing box office results.

Zaveri shared that beyond the movie coming out in a drought after the COVID-19 pandemic, his admiration for Abraham brought about unfavorable outcomes. In simpler terms, he expressed that “I was a fan of his and wanted to demonstrate my versatility on screen, but my affection ended up having negative results.

The Marjaavaan director disclosed that following the movie’s release, it took approximately two to three months for the Dostana actor to stop communicating with him.

Milap shared the turn of events, expressing it as, “I contacted him, and he responded saying he was sad. He didn’t mention being angry at me. Instead, he said, ‘I am distraught about this film, I was very scared.’ I wasn’t expecting this outcome, but something had shattered, breaking his heart as well as mine, because the film didn’t work out.

The setback was quite a jolt, and Zaveri noted that John had retreated into solitude. But after a while, they resumed their conversations, and just a few months down the line, John even paid him a visit and gave him a warm embrace. Moreover, the actor from Housefull 2 voiced his desire to collaborate with Milap in future projects.

About their present relationship, the filmmaker shared that although they’re good friends, they don’t chat as often as before. However, he has shown great enthusiasm about working together on an action movie and intends to reach out to the actor shortly.

At the moment, Milap Zaveri is engaged with the production of Masti 4, starring Riteish Deshmukh. Simultaneously, John Abraham is set to appear in both The Diplomat and Tehran.
