Lasell, of Los Angeles, died Oct. 4, according to a family notice.
Back in the swinging ’60s, I used to catch my breath every week as I tuned into the spooky soap, “Dark Shadows.” In this gothic tale, I took on the role of Dr. Peter Guthrie, a relentless vampire hunter. And who could forget Jonathan Frid’s chilling portrayal of Barnabus Collins, the captivating vampire that drew in a loyal teenage fanbase over the show’s impressive four-year run?
In addition to portraying John Wilkes Booth on a 1961 episode of “The Twilight Zone”, Lasell took on roles in two episodes of “Wagon Train” and one episode of “Hazel” that same year. He made an appearance on “Route 66” in 1962, followed by roles in a 1964 episode of “Flipper”, as well as episodes of “As the World Turns” and “Perry Mason” in 1966. In 1972, he was seen on television shows like “Mission: Impossible”, “Night Gallery”, and “Mannix”. He also starred in an episode of “Dallas” in 1984. According to IMDb, his last screen appearances were in 1985.
In 1960, Lasell played a fire control officer in a Broadway production of Roman Candle.
John Whitin Lasell Jr., born on the 6th of November, 1928, has been married thrice, one of them being to Patricia Smith.
