As a cinephile with a penchant for action-packed adventures and a soft spot for well-crafted narratives, I find myself eagerly anticipating the collaboration between Chad Stahelski and Michael B. Jordan on the upcoming adaptation of Tom Clancy’s “Rainbow Six.
For a year now, there’s been no news about the adaptation of Tom Clancy’s work, specifically the game series based on his novels, which was to be helmed by director . However, in an unexpected development, this veteran director of the John Wick franchise has provided a positive update. Originally slated to direct, Jordan was set to reprise his role as John Kelly from the 2021 film, Without Remorse. Yet, there’s been minimal progress on the movie until now, but Stahelski has finally spoken up about it.
As a passionate movie enthusiast, I recently delved into an insightful conversation with Director Stahelski regarding the delay in the release of our beloved film. It appears that the familiar struggle we’ve seen before – ensuring everything is perfect before unleashing it to the world – seems to be at play here. In his own words:
Among my favorite cast members I’ve collaborated with is Michael B. Jordan. He’s an extraordinary individual, brimming with vitality. I believe he has immense potential, not only in the action genre, like Rainbow Six, but also in other areas. Rainbow Six is a substantial property, originating from a well-known IP, so it requires careful development to ensure success. Both video games and Hollywood projects can sometimes be tricky, and it’s all about getting it right while leaving room for growth. We’re taking our time with this project, as there are many great ideas being explored. The development process has been thorough, and we aim to deliver a quality product that fans will appreciate.
Chad Stahelski and Michael B. Jordan Have a Lot of on Their Slates
In terms of major film projects, both Stahelski and Jordan have previously been involved with significant franchises. Stahelski is instrumental in the success of the John Wick series featuring Keanu Reeves, and has contributed to the stunt work for films like The Hunger Games, Expendables, and various X-Men adaptations. On the other hand, Jordan portrayed Killmonger in Black Panther and Adonis Creed within the Creed film series.
Chad Stahelski is keeping busy with various projects within the John Wick universe, such as producing and co-directing Ballerina, a spinoff featuring Ana de Armas. On top of that, he’s got an impressive list of upcoming ventures, including a Highlander reboot starring Henry Cavill, a Ghost of Tsushima film adaptation, and the development or pre-production phases of TV shows like Vice City, Rain, and Gangsters of Shanghai. Given this bustling schedule, it’s no wonder that Rainbow Six has to take its turn in line.
For Jordan, there’s a familiar pattern. He’s not just involved in Ryan Coogler’s 2025 horror-thriller “Sinners”, but also appears in another remake of the “Thomas Crown Affair”, returns to boxing for “Creed IV”, and teams up with Will Smith for the long-awaited sequel, “I Am Legend 2”. Having successfully directed the third film in the “Creed” series and taking on directing duties for the fourth, it’s likely that we’ll soon see Jordan adding more directorial projects to his growing repertoire.
