The host of Fox’s updated version of Fear Factor is a real Jackass.
Johnny Knoxville, known for his boundary-testing shows like the popular reality TV series “Jackass,” will take over as host when “Fear Factor: The New Chapter” returns to television during the 2025-26 season. He’ll be replacing Joe Rogan and Ludacris who previously hosted the original show on NBC from 2001-06 and again in 2011-12, as well as MTV’s version of “Fear Factor” from 2017-18.
According to Fox Television Network president Michael Thorn, Johnny Knoxville is a pioneer in fearless entertainment. His eccentric wit, unparalleled knack for defying limits, and fearlessness when it comes to the extreme make him an ideal choice to head this daring revamp of Fear Factor.”

Fox unveiled the update for their popular show “Fear Factor” during the May upfronts. Apart from the signature stunts and revolting challenges, this new edition titled “The Next Chapter” will incorporate a continuous gameplay aspect where all contestants reside together and vie for a season-ending grand prize (previously, episodes were self-contained with different players in each one).
In the last while, Knoxville has been featured in a guest spot on ‘The Studio’, starred in ‘The Luckiest Man in America’ movie, and appeared on Hulu’s series ‘Reboot’. Furthermore, he served as both host and judge for ABC’s 2023 reality show ‘The Prank Panel’. Coming up, you can catch him in the teenage drama ‘The Marshmallow Experiment’.
