Jokers Mark Hamill And Barry Keoghan Have Sweet Interaction Online, Now Give Them A Movie ASAP

As a lifelong fan who has witnessed the evolution of the Joker character across various mediums, I wholeheartedly concur with the sentiment that Mark Hamill is the undisputed king of this iconic villain’s portrayals. His performance on Batman: The Animated Series set a benchmark that has yet to be surpassed. Now, Barry Keoghan, a rising star in Hollywood, has paid tribute to Hamill, and their heartwarming exchange has left me yearning for a movie collaboration between these two talented actors.

It’s not just me who believes that Mark Hamill is the greatest actor to portray The Joker in any medium. He really raised the bar when he first appeared as the villain on Batman: The Animated Series many years ago. Since then, other performers have added their own distinctive touches to the iconic character, with Barry Keoghan being one of them. Interestingly, Keoghan recently paid tribute to Hamill, leading to a touching exchange between them. I’d love to see Hollywood collaborate and produce a movie featuring both these talented actors as The Joker soon.

Barry Keoghan, who played Joker in Matt Reeves’ The Batman, recently took to his Instagram story to share a clip of Mark Hamill from an interview. The Green Knight actor captioned his post by tagging Hamill and noting, “ya pure legend.” Hamill himself eventually saw the sweet tribute and reposted Keoghan’s post. The Star Wars icon then added a sweet message of his own about the “gifted” Keoghan, and you can read it in its entirety below:

In the realm of entertainment, there’s nothing more delightful than instances where actors show mutual admiration for each other. This particular incident strikes a chord with me, being a Batman enthusiast, as it’s a friendly banter between two individuals who have both donned the mantle of the Joker. Beyond their iconic roles, they’ve consistently given outstanding performances throughout their careers and have developed unique acting styles. Consequently, I eagerly anticipate seeing them collaborate in a movie.

A multitude of intriguing scenarios arise when contemplating a film featuring Mark Hamill and Barry Keoghan. One idea is a humorous road trip movie where they portray contrasting characters or perhaps even a father-son duo. Alternatively, a more serious plot could work just as well. Consider a film where Mark Hamill assumes the role of a detective hunting down a serial killer played by Keoghan, or conversely, Keoghan playing the antagonist to Hamill’s protagonist. Frankly, I find myself brimming with excitement at the mere thought of these possibilities.

Is Matt Reeves’ The Batman Trilogy Still Moving Forward As Planned? The Director Shares An Update

Regarding their work related to the Joker character, it’s worth noting that both actors find themselves in distinct positions currently. Mark Hamill appears to have completed his voice acting for the character after the third part of Crisis on Infinite Earths. His decision to retire from the role was motivated by the passing of his long-term co-star and well-respected Batman voice actor, Kevin Conroy. Several months following these remarks, Hamill reaffirmed his stance on the Joker, which was both emotional and justified.

It seems Barry Keoghan’s journey as the chaotic Gotham City villain might be prolonged. He made appearances in two scenes from The Batman, with one of these appearing later on, post-theater release. At a certain point, the star of Saltburn mentioned he had grand ideas for the Joker in the upcoming sequel, The Batman – Part II. Yet, as production on that film gears up, Keoghan playfully avoids questions about his potential continued role as the character.

Regardless of what lies ahead in Barry Keoghan’s career, I sincerely hope he and Mark Hamill get an opportunity to collaborate on a movie someday. Frankly, if their schedules ever coincide, it’s hard for me to imagine any valid reason not to team them up for a film. If for some reason that doesn’t occur, the bright side is that they both appreciate each other’s talent in the industry.
