Jonathan Majors and Meagan Good Reveal Engagement at Ebony Power 100 Gala

As a long-time follower of Hollywood and its intriguing narratives, I must say that the union between Jonathan Majors and Meagan Good is indeed a tale of resilience and redemption. Their journey has been one filled with ups and downs, but their unwavering commitment to each other through thick and thin is truly inspiring.

It was announced at the Ebony Power 100 Gala in Los Angeles over the weekend that actors Jonathan Majors and Meagan Good are now engaged. At the event, Good flaunted her diamond engagement ring as they walked the red carpet together.

At a recent interview with E! News during the event, the couple mentioned that the Ebony Power 100 Gala held a particular importance for them since it was where they first met in the year 2022. Majors, aged 35, and Good, aged 43, have been together since May 2023, which marked two months after the Lovecraft Country actor’s arrest over an alleged assault against his former girlfriend, Grace Jabbari.

Throughout the legal proceedings that took place from November 2023 to December, when Majors was convicted of third-degree reckless assault and harassment, Shazam! actress remained by his side, often attending court sessions regularly. Following his trial, which lasted three weeks, Majors received a sentence in April this year for a 52-week domestic violence intervention program that he must complete in person.

Following his highly praised performances in films like Da 5 Bloods (2020), The Harder They Fall (2021), Devotion (2022), Idris Elba had been on the rise as a promising actor in Hollywood. Prior to his conviction, he was poised to play a significant role in phase six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, taking on the villainous character Kang the Conqueror in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. However, Disney dismissed Elba following his conviction and made adjustments to phase six accordingly.

In 2023, my heart soared as I watched Magazine Dreams, a gripping bodybuilding drama from Searchlight, featuring an outstanding performance by Major that earned him praise and award speculation at Sundance. Unfortunately, due to his personal legal issues, the film was temporarily put on hold for release. However, there’s still hope – Briarcliff acquired distribution rights, and we might get to see it on the big screen next year!

In June, Major secured his initial significant acting position post-conviction, as he became part of the ensemble for the supernatural revenge thriller titled “Merciless” directed by Martin Villeneuve.

Recently, Good has been featured in Tyler Perry’s “Divorce in the Black,” and also starred in movies like “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues,” “Think Like a Man,” and its sequel “Think Like a Man Too.” Currently, she is playing a role in the comedy series on Prime Video titled “Harlem.” Good was previously married to DeVon Franklin, an entertainment executive and motivational speaker, from 2012 until 2022.
