At San Diego Comic-Con’s Hall H stage, Marvel Studios broke tradition by renaming its upcoming film, initially titled “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,” to “Avengers: Doomsday.” This decision centers around the central antagonist, Victor Von Doom, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr., reprising his role in the MCU and receiving a substantial paycheck. These changes were necessitated due to legal complications involving Jonathan Majors, who was previously cast as Kang the Conqueror but has now been replaced. In response to these events, Majors has decided to address the situation publicly.
TMZ ran into Jonathan Majors while he was strolling through what appears to be downtown Los Angeles. They asked for his thoughts on the announcement that Robert Downey Jr. would be playing Doom, a role that was initially linked to Majors’ character Kang in the MCU. Majors responded honestly, stating:
Yeah, heartbroken. C’mon, yeah, of course. I love him. I love Kang. Doctor Doom is wicked, though.
