Following the successful global debut of Spike Lee’s “Highest 2 Lowest” at the Cannes Film Festival, producer Jason Michael Berman and his freshly established production house, A/Vantage Pictures, have strengthened their team.
Jordan Moldo, previously working alongside Berman at Mandalay Pictures, has been appointed to the position of Executive Vice President. His responsibilities will involve utilizing his expertise in creative development and packaging to expand the company’s film and TV plans across its locations in Los Angeles, New York, and Boulder. Additionally, the team at A/Vantage Pictures has grown with Matthew Lindner joining as Partner and Vice President, Mike Downing, another veteran of Mandalay, stepping into the role of Director of Development, and Tori Kotsen being brought on board as Coordinator. Kotsen previously worked at Lionsgate.
Berman stated that this team embodies the company A/Vantage is creating. It’s a team that values creativity, honesty, and the innovative mindset needed to succeed in an ever-changing industry. Jordan, as a forward-thinking leader, along with Matthew, Mike, and Tori, places us in an excellent position to continue assisting filmmakers in telling impactful stories on a grand scale.
Moldo expressed his enthusiasm about joining A/Vantage during a period of expansion, stating it as “extremely captivating.” He further mentioned: “Jason has constructed a company that prioritizes creative aspirations and cultural significance above all else. I’m overjoyed to contribute to the development of a portfolio that challenges norms, amplifies daring voices, and engages audiences in innovative ways.

Regarding that project, it’s worth mentioning that while Lee is working on “Highest 2 Lowest,” which is a fresh take on the 1963 Akira Kurosawa film “High and Low,” A/Vantage Production is currently in the post-production phase for “Rock Springs.” This psychological horror movie, penned and directed by Vera Miao, boasts an impressive cast including Benedict Wong, Kelly Marie Tran, and Jimmy O. Yang. The production company aims to create films that are both commercially successful and culturally relevant, with a focus on stories told through strong, visionary directors. This objective aligns well with “Highest 2 Lowest,” where Lee offers a new interpretation of the original story.
Lee’s adaptation features Denzel Washington, a regular collaborator, portraying a powerful figure in the music industry who finds himself in a tough moral predicament when he’s threatened with ransom. The cast also includes Jeffrey Wright, A$AP Rocky, Wendell Pierce, and Ilfenesh Hadera. The movie, titled Highest 2 Lowest, will be distributed theatrically by A24 and made available worldwide on Apple TV+.
This year, Berman established A/Vantage Pictures after spending a decade as the president of Mandalay Pictures. His latest projects encompass Ben Affleck’s “Air” for Amazon Studios, “Surrounded” for MGM, as well as notable films such as “Nine Days” and “The Birth of a Nation.” The latter film garnered both the grand jury prize and audience award at the Sundance Film Festival.
Regarding Moldo, he’s the latest addition to A/Vantage Pictures as Executive Vice President, having previously served at Mandalay. There, he executive produced the critically praised film “Air”, which was nominated for a Golden Globe in the best picture – comedy or musical category. He also shares a co-producer credit on “Highest 2 Lowest”. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Moldo attended Crossroads School before earning dual degrees from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and Stern School of Business. His journey in the entertainment industry started at CAA’s motion picture literary department.
He moved to the Weinstein Company in 2015 and climbed up the ladder from coordinator to creative executive, working directly on films like The Current War, The Upside, Lion, The Founder, Wind River, and The Hateful Eight. After his tenure at the Weinstein Company, Moldo held an executive position at BRON Studios, focusing on both high-profile and commercially successful films. During this time, he was involved in projects such as Jay Roach’s Bombshell starring Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman, and Margot Robbie, Taylor Sheridan’s Those Who Wish Me Dead featuring Angelina Jolie, and David Lowery’s The Green Knight starring Dev Patel. Moldo also served as co-executive producer on Dev Patel’s directorial debut, Monkey Man.
