Josh Gad Says It Was a “Big Mistake” Using His Regular Voice for Olaf in ‘Frozen’

As a die-hard Frozen fan, I must say that Josh Gad‘s confession about his “big mistake” with Olaf is quite amusing yet endearing! It’s fascinating to learn about the behind-the-scenes decisions that shape our beloved characters. Though I wouldn’t trade Olaf’s voice for anything now, it’s intriguing to imagine what a different voice could have brought to the table.

Josh Gad reveals the “big mistake” he made when it came to voicing Olaf in Frozen.

Reflecting on the past, I wish I hadn’t given that snowman my voice; I would have chosen a different one instead,” the actor confided during a recent interview at Fan Expo Canada. “It’s quite unsettling when I’m in a supermarket and a child imitates me like this…” he gestured, turning his head to the side slowly.

I made a significant error for the first time,” Gad admitted, but he noted that others frequently praise his distinctive vocal abilities. It seems people appreciate his voice, so he makes an effort to use it whenever possible.

The actor from “Beauty and the Beast” provided the voice for Olaf, the beloved snowman character, in both the 2013 movie “Frozen” and its sequel in 2019. He has also lent his voice to Olaf in various Disney short films. It is anticipated that he will star alongside Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel in “Frozen 3,” scheduled for release on Nov. 24, 2027, as well as a forthcoming fourth installment of the series.

On Tuesday, Gad shared during his interview on Live with Kelly and Mark that it was during a trip to Greece that he found out about the third and fourth installments of Frozen, as they were unveiled at D23.

Suddenly, my phone started buzzing non-stop. People were exclaiming about ‘Frozen 3’ and ‘Frozen 4’, expressing their excitement. I replied, ‘Me too?’ I had no clue this was happening,” the actor from ‘Wolf Like Me’ stated. “It never crossed anyone’s mind to inform us in advance, ‘Oh, by the way, we’re making two sequels to your movie(s).’

He went on joking, “However, I’ve picked up a few rumors regarding it, and it’s going to be mind-blowing! I can hardly wait for the ideas they’re currently brainstorming. It’s truly astonishing.
