Josh Hartnett Reflects on Meeting Wife While Co-Starring in “Worst Movie Either of Us Have Ever Made”

As a seasoned gamer who has navigated countless virtual worlds, I find Josh Hartnett‘s journey remarkably similar to the intricate narratives weaved within our favorite games. His life, like a captivating RPG, is filled with twists, turns, and unexpected encounters that lead to epic victories and heartwarming alliances.

Josh Hartnett is thinking back to when he met his spouse, who was also his co-star in a film they both worked on in 2011.

In 2012, the Trap Star started dating actress Tasmin Egerton following their encounter on the set of The Lovers. They tied the knot in 2021 and are now parents to four children together.

In an interview with Julia Stiles, Hartnett playfully mentioned that their first meeting was quite typical of the Hollywood scene.

“In what turned out to be our most disastrous film collaboration, he admitted, ‘We acted as a married couple, yet it was the worst production for us both.’ Not implying any criticism towards the director, who shall remain unnamed. Unfortunately, it disappeared during post-production. We filmed in London and were both involved with partners at the time. However, our on-screen chemistry made us realize that our current relationships wouldn’t last because we found ourselves developing genuine feelings for each other.”

During filming, “The Bear” co-stars confessed that they had both ended their respective relationships. Subsequently, after wrapping up the project, they began dating each other.

Hartnett explained, “Initially, she resided in London while I lived in New York. However, we managed to take some trips together. Later on, she visited the U.S., and we embarked on a lengthy road trip during which she met my family. Our story continued from there, with her staying at my place frequently, and me at hers. We spent a significant amount of time living between our homes together. Then, she became pregnant, and eventually, we got married.”

Following a string of significant film roles such as in “Pearl Harbor” and “Black Hawk Down” during the 1990s, Josh Hartnett opted to retreat from the public eye and focus on lesser-known projects. In an interview with The Guardian in July, he shared his reasons for departing Hollywood, expressing concern that the attention he was receiving was bordering on unhealthy for him. He also mentioned instances where fans would show up at his home or stalk him.

Hartnett expressed that he didn’t desire his life to become entirely consumed by work. There was a belief during that period that one should fully surrender to their work, but he observed the consequences for some individuals. They were overwhelmed and lost in the process. He wanted to avoid such an outcome for himself.
