Jude Law Admits ‘The Holiday’ Cottage “Doesn’t Exist”

As a devoted fan of The Holiday, I must admit that learning about the non-existence of the Rosehill cottage has left me utterly heartbroken! For years, I’ve dreamt of swapping homes with Cameron Diaz or Kate Winslet (or perhaps both!) and experiencing the magic of that cozy English cottage. It seems my dreams have been as elusive as true love in a rom-com… or so it appears!

If you’re a fan of the movie “The Holiday” dreaming about renting the cottage featured in it via Airbnb someday, I regret to inform you that Jude Law has some unfortunate news.

On a recent chat with BBC Radio, I, being the actor who graced the screen alongside Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, and Jack Black in the 2006 movie, shared some exciting news about the film’s Rosehill cottage. When the hosts casually asked if that cottage could be rented on Airbnb, I was more than happy to spill the beans!

I’m afraid that charming little cottage you’re admiring isn’t real,” I mention, and we all share a stunned response, me included, as if the magic has momentarily vanished from our eyes.

He noted that Nancy Meyers, being somewhat meticulous, thoroughly inspected that particular location but couldn’t locate the quaint, storybook cottage she desired. Consequently, she rented a field instead, then sketched her vision and had it constructed.

He went on to detail the process of filming at the cottage: “What’s amusing is, if you look closely… We filmed during winter here. Every time I entered through that door, we paused for a break, and we actually filmed the indoor scenes in L.A., around three months afterwards.

When the hosts requested me to halt my discussion about the movie since it seemed too intense for them, I playfully replied, “Go ahead and pop the bubble. My apologies!

Regarding his feelings towards fans watching the movie during every holiday season, Law described it as “magnificent.

The movie’s Rosehill cottage was said to have been influenced by a real-life cottage called Honeysuckle Cottage, situated in Surrey Hills of England.

In the romantic comedy, Law played the role of Diaz’s romantic interest and Winslet’s sibling. The movie revolves around Diaz and Winslet’s characters exchanging houses during the holiday season, embarking on separate journeys, and discovering love in unanticipated circumstances.
