As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for gritty thrillers and a keen interest in historical events, I must say that “The Order” seems right up my alley. The trailer evokes a sense of tension and suspense reminiscent of the classic cat-and-mouse chase games I’ve played over the years. Jude Law as Agent Terry Husk promises to deliver a gripping performance, and I’m intrigued by the real-life inspiration behind the story.
In the thriller titled “The Order“, Jude Law portrays a relentless FBI agent who is pursuing a neo-Nazi extremist gang responsible for a series of bank robberies and car thefts. The ultimate goal of these crimes is to accumulate funds for an anticipated armed rebellion against the United States government.
The trailer for Justin Kurzel’s suspenseful cat-and-mouse film (shown below) features Law as FBI agent Terry Husk, who believes that the series of robberies are not the handiwork of common criminals but rather a dangerous terrorist group within the U.S., aiming to ignite racial conflict with the ultimate goal of overthrowing the government.
The short preview suggests that a group of white supremacists are actively seeking and grooming fresh recruits, raising funds, assassinating adversaries, and executing acts of terror. The investigation by Husk culminates in the identification of Bob Mathews, an ardent racist portrayed by Nicholas Hoult, who leads a terrorist organization named The Order.
In the back of his worn-out pick-up, Mathews, looking tired, queries Husk, “Aren’t you new around here?” To which Husk, appearing unfazed, answers the Aryan Nations group’s leader, “Are you implying I’m tailing you?
In the course of his investigation into the neo-Nazi plot aimed at the US government, Husk becomes a target, as Matthews trains his rifle scope on him. Consequently, he leaves behind a path marked by explosions and violence during his chase.
In the film, titled “The Order“, director Kurzel led the team in a competitive showing at Venice. The script was penned by Zach Baylin. The talented cast features Tye Sheridan, Jurnee Smollett, Alison Oliver, and Marc Maron.
The Order draws inspiration from the 1989 non-fiction book “The Silent Brotherhood: An Inside Account of America’s Violent, Anti-Government Militia Movement,” authored by Kevin Flynn and Gary Gerhardt. This book was first published on January 1, 1989, under the Free Press imprint, with a revised edition appearing on July 14, 2018.
The Film, which has been brought to you by Bryan Haas, Stuart Ford, Kurzel, and Law, will be hitting the big screens on December 6, 2024, courtesy of Vertical Entertainment.
