Jurassic World Rebirth’s Original Working Title Teased Most Dangerous Jurassic Adventure

The movie “Jurassic World: Rebirth” is now playing in cinemas, providing an opportunity for its creators to reveal behind-the-scenes information about its production. This offers fans a glimpse into the process that shaped the newest addition to the Jurassic Park trilogy, which has been running for three decades.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but admire David Koepp, one of the brilliant filmmakers, who has contributed to the Jurassic Park universe by penning both the original masterpiece, Jurassic Park, and its first sequel, The Lost World. Now, he’s back to breathe fresh life into this captivating world following the events of Jurassic World Dominion. Koepp crafted a concept that emphasizes the peril of dinosaurs roaming freely, making survival the focal point, as mirrored in the film’s original working title – a battle for existence that keeps fans on the edge of their seats. Without heavily relying on the narratives of any previous Jurassic World films, Koepp skillfully devised an intriguing and suspenseful tale.

Jurassic World Rebirth‘s original title

In the new storyline of “Rebirth”, Steven Spielberg’s collaborator, Koepp, envisioned a smaller-scaled dinosaur-filled island, this time being a repurposed InGen research facility where both regular and genetically altered dinosaurs reside freely. To add tension, two distinct groups of individuals – a secret ops team and a shipwrecked family – are thrust into the chaos alongside these colossal creatures. In the universe of “Rebirth”, dinosaurs have vanished from civilization, adapting to life in equatorial regions with a climate suitable for their survival as they cannot endure the extreme cold of the North or South poles.

The dinosaurs struggle for survival as people search for dinosaur DNA to create a life-saving medicine. Adding the element of random dinosaur attacks throughout the setting, a straightforward and powerful title seems fitting.

The original title of the script was “Survival,” as shared by Koepp with The Hollywood Reporter. His aim was to ensure each character’s struggle for survival on the island was central, with both humans and animals in their own battles to stay alive. With such a compelling premise, there was no need to exaggerate. Essentially, these are individuals striving not to perish, which makes for a powerful narrative.

Although Universal Pictures ultimately chose the title “Rebirth,” it’s crucial to recall Koepp’s preferred working title during scenes where characters ponder their lives’ purpose and the significance of survival within the context of a grand cosmic timeline that includes dinosaur extinction. The theme of survival is integral to every Jurassic Park film, but this story places an emphasis on its consequences, with not all surviving characters making it out alive. Despite the title change, the underlying idea remains in the narrative.
