Maybe it really has ended.
In a surprising development, a federal judge in New York has dismissed the entire $400 million defamation and blackmail case brought against actress Blake Lively by Justin Baldoni and Wayfarer. The dismissal occurred because the judge deemed that Lively’s claims of sexual harassment on the set of the movie “It Ends With Us” were legally shielded, making them immune to this particular lawsuit.
At the start of this year, I lodged a substantial grievance that implicated quite a few individuals, among them being Ryan Reynolds, the husband of Blake Lively.
As a gamer, I’d rephrase that into: “In my viewpoint, today’s court decision fully validates Blake Lively, along with others who were involved in Justin Baldoni and Wayfarer Parties’ counter-lawsuit, including Ryan Reynolds, Leslie Sloane, and The New York Times. From the beginning, we’ve maintained that this $400 million lawsuit was nothing more than a fraud, and it seems the court agreed with us.”
I tried to maintain the original meaning while making it sound like a personal opinion from a gamer perspective.
Judge Jewis J. Liman of the Southern District did not completely close the case for Wayfarer and Baldoni’s lawyers, led by Bryan Freedman. They still have the option to revise their lawsuit, focusing on any contractual commitments.
Gottlieb and Hudson each have unique strategies to advance further, and expressed eagerness for the upcoming legal confrontation with Baldoni and his business partner Steve Sarowitz. They intend to pursue lawyers’ fees, triple damages, and punitive damages against these two in court.
In addition to other points, Liman stated, “An employee has the right to demand workplace protection against sexual harassment, even if such measures seem unnecessary, without facing accusations of extortion. If an employer grants this request, they cannot later claim to have been victimized by the employee’s false threats.
Regarding the disputed document, it’s said that Lively never signed it as a promise to promote the film. In response, Liman pointed out that there’s no claim that Lively was contractually bound to promote the movie. If she wasn’t, then there’s no reason to assume that her efforts to promote the film held any more value than a reasonable exchange for the Wayfarer Parties allowing her to be part of it.
More to come.
