K-Pop boy group Treasure has been waiting years to meet their U.S. fans.

The 10-member K-Pop group, which was formed on YG Entertainment’s music survival show YG Treasure Box and has been touring the U.S. as part of their Special Moments tour, will conclude the North American leg of their tour in Los Angeles this Sunday. This marks the group’s inaugural U.S. tour during its five-year existence.

Prior to embarking on their upcoming tour, the musical collective, known as Treasure, recently unveiled an exclusive EP titled “Pleasure” last month. They expressed that this release serves to highlight a lesser-known facet of their band’s personality.

In this piece, Treasure open up about their EP titled “Pleasure”, the self-discoveries they’ve made since their debut in 2020, and their experiences during their initial U.S. tour.

What were some of the highlights of making Pleasure? Do you have standout moments?

To begin with, our team members played a significant role in producing our most recent album. Notably, this album, titled “Pleasure“, is a unique blend, featuring a one-of-a-kind expression of love that is distinctly Treasure‘s own.

Does anyone have a personal favorite on the album?

AS A GAMER Man, “Yellow” is a tune I can’t get enough of! It’s got this irresistible appeal that makes me want to hit the replay button again and again. What’s cool about it is that Sahi, Hyunsuk, Yoshi, and I were all part of writing its lyrics, making it an ambitious track we put our hearts into.

JAEHYUK For me, the song “Whatever, Whenever” is truly special. It stirs intense emotions within me as I envision performing it live, especially when considering its rhythm and lyrics. Just thinking about our fans joining in the chorus fills me with anticipation.

How do you feel about being able to try different genres on the album?

KATHERINE It’s a real pleasure for us to reveal different aspects of Treasure, and this album specifically was designed to showcase our evolving sides to our beloved fans, known as Treasure Makers.

Could you share with us the vibe or atmosphere that characterizes your team dynamics during this phase of your careers, particularly while working on this album?

HYUNSUK For a while now, we’ve been stressing the importance of communication. With so many of us in the group, there are plenty of differing opinions, but after spending so much time together, coordinating our thoughts wasn’t challenging. This experience has made our team stronger and more cohesive. Throughout the creation of this album, we’ve been realizing how dependable we can be on each other. We feel that as a unified team, our teamwork is exceptionally strong and we’re thriving as active musicians.

As your music career progresses and you evolve as artists, how would you like to be viewed by both your existing fans and newcomers who haven’t discovered you yet? Has this perception evolved since you first started out in the industry?

JIHOON The image of Treasure hasn’t changed much from our debut days to now. To celebrate our 5th anniversary, we want to demonstrate to both long-time fans and newcomers that while there are numerous talented groups, we are artists who genuinely love performing and can deliver captivating performances even in a relaxed state.

Hey there! As I’ve delved into the world of Treasure over the past couple of years, have I discovered some unexpected things about myself. What insights have you uncovered about yourself during your journey here?

Over time as we’ve played at numerous shows, the initial nervousness and unease we felt upon taking the stage has diminished. Instead, we’re discovering ways to enjoy ourselves more and make even more joyful moments for our audience to remember fondly.

What are fans who have been eagerly anticipating, likely the most thrilled about, regarding your initial U.S. concert tour?

JIHOON Because neither of us has visited the U.S. yet, there’s likely a distinction between meeting someone in person and observing them at a concert. Just as viewing us on video is not the same as seeing us live, our team’s performances tend to be more engaging when presented live rather than through a filtered video format. We hope that our fans, who probably share this sentiment, appreciate this difference too. Furthermore, with the enhanced band sound, we aim to deliver even more enriching performances during our visit.

YOSHI Our goal is to be recognized as an artistic team in the United States, just as we are known as a performance-type team in Korea.

A live band really adds to the experience. Can you talk a bit about performing with one?

Hey there, gaming community! Ever since our concert tour kicked off a few years ago, we’ve been working closely with live session band members to enhance our performance experience. Although you might not notice it while we’re rocking out on stage, we collaborate with these talented musicians to create the perfect sound and vibe for each venue. Trust us, this collaboration is a game-changer that will elevate your concert experience, so get ready to enjoy the show!

Outside of the performances, what are you most excited about with touring in the U.S.?

JUNGHWAN I recall going to the U.S. as a child, and since then, I’ve had high hopes for experiencing the beautiful natural vistas that America has to offer.

As you continue to make music and perform as Treasure, what are you hoping to achieve as a group?

JIHOON Our immediate aim is to organize a stellar tour this year, one that surpasses our previous performances. We want the playlist for this tour to be seasoned and seamlessly blended, such that when newcomers encounter us, they’re immediately impressed. Our ultimate goal for this year is to connect with a multitude of people through this improved performance.
