Kaitlyn Olson Jumped Back Into Sweet Dee Mode For It’s Always Sunny While Celebrating The Final Day Of Filming ABC’s High Potential

As a long-time fan of Kaitlin Olson and her unforgettable character Sweet Dee from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” I must say that her latest venture, “High Potential” on ABC, has been an absolute delight! It’s like seeing the best of both worlds unfold before my eyes.

Among the highlights of the 2024 Fall TV season is ABC’s detective dramedy “High Potential”, where Kaitlin Olson has had the opportunity to display her dramatic skills, in addition to her well-established comedic abilities from her 16 seasons on “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”. Despite airing just two episodes before a brief break, it’s clear that Olson has quickly captured our hearts. It’s somewhat disappointing to learn that she’s already celebrating the completion of Season 1.

It would undeniably seem less satisfying if the star hadn’t marked this pop culture achievement with a seamless transformation from her “High Potential” character to her beloved, yet dysfunctional character from “It’s Always Sunny.” Have a look at her Instagram post below, and don’t forget to watch the video in the second slide for an absolutely stunning unveiling.

Hooray! If you missed it, Olson was seen in a behind-the-scenes shot standing by her trailer. A label on the door read “Morgan”, but upon removing it, the name “Sweet Dee” was uncovered. The video itself didn’t have any fireworks or explosions, but watching it gave me quite the visual spectacle – so vivid that it felt like a burn when I blinked.

It’s likely that the actress isn’t exaggerating when she suggests that she moves her trailer from one project to another. Previously, Olson mentioned that her new show is filmed on the same studio lot as It’s Always Sunny, making it convenient for her to transition smoothly.

I must admit, I’m not quite prepared to bid farewell to Morgan, Olson’s brainy mom on a mission, at least not just yet – I plan to enjoy every one of the eight remaining episodes with relish. As an ardent fan of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, dating back to its debut on FX, I look forward to its comeback more eagerly than most other television or life-related feelings. If Charlie and Frank aren’t around to gauge the depths of my existence against, then how can I truly know if I haven’t scraped bottom yet?

The Fun Sweet Dee Easter Egg In High Potential’s Season 1 Finale

Just a few days prior to posting the photo from the end of Season 1’s production, Kaitlin Olson hinted at an Easter egg for fans in the upcoming finale that perfectly captures it as a nod to Sweet Dee’s nickname on ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’.

Admitingly, it could be challenging to spot specific outfits among Morgan’s vibrant and bustling wardrobe. Each character’s fashion transformation is delightful, leaving one in awe of how she manages such diverse styles on a budget, which seems almost magical. Yet, I have no qualms accepting this TV mystery. Moreover, I wholeheartedly believe that her nail painting skills are exceptional too, adding to her impressive talents.

Will High Potential Get Renewed For Season 2?

As a passionate gamer, I’m keeping my fingers crossed, all bedecked with flamingo charms, hoping for a second season of the show I’m part of on ABC. It’s still early in the game, and nobody should jump the gun with predictions, but the initial numbers suggest that the network might be eagerly waiting to get the ball rolling for another season.

The first episode of the show aired on September 17, drawing approximately 3.6 million viewers to ABC initially. After accounting for delayed viewing over a three-day period, that number swelled to nearly 11.5 million when taking into account DVR, Hulu, and Disney+ figures. In today’s context, this kind of viewership for a broadcast drama is quite substantial.

As a passionate gamer diving into the world of TV ratings, I must say, the new series kicked off with a disappointing 0.35 rating among the crucial 18-49 age group. However, just like a game that gains traction over time, the viewership total tripled as well. After the +3 delay, High Potential skyrocketed to a 1.31 demo rating, which is the network’s highest for a drama premiere since Big Sky in 2020.

It appears that Morgan’s amateur detective abilities could entertain fans for many years if they continue to watch Kaitlin Olson perform. As an interesting side note, we can expect to see her on another ABC series, “Abbott Elementary,” with a crossover episode being hinted at in recent times.

High Potential airs new episodes on ABC on Tuesdays at 9:00 p.m. ET.
