She emphasized that the entire experience, from the nine-month process of carrying a baby to the pressures of postpartum healing, can have a substantial impact on both one’s physical and mental wellbeing.
She remarked, “It requires a significant toll on you, as your body essentially becomes a servant to another being. Metaphorically speaking, you become a nurturing environment for the baby, providing it with essential nutrients and energy.
Kalki opened up about the hardships she faced during the initial phase of motherhood, reminiscing about the demanding first six months following her daughter’s birth. She painted a picture of countless sleepless nights, frequent feedings, and the impact on her diet as breastfeeding drained all her energy towards the baby.
In the midst of turmoil, she experienced a profound sense of emptiness, doubting her essence and yearning for some remnant of her past existence. Kaki underscored the hardships inherent in this period and observed that such struggles are seldom talked about candidly.
In 2020, the actress gave birth to her daughter named Sappho. Now, five years later, their relationship has flourished wonderfully. When talking about their bond, Kalki explained that Sappho has become her trusted confidante. They share secrets and even discuss challenges together.
