‘Kaos’ Canceled After Single Season at Netflix

As a dedicated fan of Greek mythology reimagined for modern times, I must confess that the cancellation of “Kaos” leaves me feeling somewhat like Prometheus himself – bound and yearning for liberation from this mortal realm! The series was a unique blend of humor, drama, and ancient lore, expertly brought to life by an exceptional cast led by the ever-entertaining Jeff Goldblum as Zeus.

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve got some news that might feel like a level boss we didn’t quite beat – Netflix isn’t coming back for more adventures in the world of Kaos, the series. After just one season, they’ve decided to hang up their controllers and call it quits. It’s a tough loss for us fans who were eagerly awaiting the next quest!

Approximately six weeks following its premiere, the streaming service has renewed “Kaos,” a dark comedy that blends Greek and Roman mythology, for a second season. In its initial four weeks on Netflix, “Kaos” consistently ranked among the top English-language series, peaking at No. 3 during the week of Sept. 2-8. Over this period, it garnered 14.9 million views, which is considered a moderate figure in comparison to Netflix’s usual viewership statistics.

As of September 8th, in the U.S., the program had accumulated approximately 3.34 million viewings, as reported by Nielsen’s streaming ratings; however, viewing figures for subsequent weeks have not been disclosed yet.

In modern times, the series “Kaos” reimagines Greek and Roman mythology. The show features Jeff Goldblum as Zeus, who has imprisoned Prometheus (Stephen Dillane) on a cliff for defying his rule. As punishment, Prometheus plots to dethrone Zeus with the aid of three humans: Eurydice (Aurora Perrineau), Ariadne (Leila Farzad), and Caeneus (Misia Butler). The ensemble also includes Janet McTeer, Cliff Curtis, David Thewlis, Rakie Ayola, Killian Scott, Nabhaan Rizwan, Debi Mazar, Mat Fraser, Stanley Townsend, Billie Piper, and Suzy Eddie Izzard.

On Instagram, Perrineau expressed that the show’s cancellation was particularly painful for her, but she commended her castmates and the creative team behind the scenes. “Each of you were exceptional and authentically yourself,” she penned. “Every scene I watched left me in awe, as your performances continually caught me off guard and brought excitement. I never thought I’d be fortunate enough to work with all of you on this project. Together, we crafted something strange, darkly comic, twisted, and heartbreakingly human.

The television series “Kaos” was executive produced by Covell, in collaboration with Chris Fry, Georgi Banks-Davies, Jane Featherstone, John Woodward, Nina Lederman, and Tanya Seghatchian.
