Imtiaz Ali’s recent statements about the casting couch and women’s security in Bollywood drew criticism from filmmaker Vinta Nanda on social media. She disagreed with his perspective, pointing out that Kareena Kapoor’s safety is a result of her privileged status, as a response to his comments.

On Instagram, Vinta Nanda responded to Imtiaz Ali’s remarks and underlined that Kareena Kapoor’s security primarily stems from her privilege, advising Ali to refrain from instructing others about the struggles women encounter in the entertainment world. In essence, she penned: “Imtiaz Ali, it would be wise for you to cease discussing the hardships women experience within the entertainment sector. After all, a woman like Kareena Kapoor is secure due to her privileged position.

The filmmaker expressed doubts about why IFFI Goa chose Imtiaz Ali to represent women’s issues, implying it was an effort to hide or conceal the truth. She argued that men like him, who haven’t personally experienced the challenges faced by women, should avoid discussing these topics. In her opinion, allowing such discussions would demonstrate genuine progress towards change.
