Kareena Kapoor Khan is 'fan' of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham; reveals she was just ‘following’ Karan Johar’s instructions while doing Poo

As a lifestyle expert with a deep appreciation for the art of cinema, I must say that Kareena Kapoor Khan’s journey in Bollywood is nothing short of inspiring. With 25 years under her belt and a film festival dedicated to her work, it’s clear that Bebo has left an indelible mark on Indian cinema.

Kareena Kapoor Khan is currently enjoying her 25-year journey in the film industry, and it has been announced that a special film festival will be held to honor this significant milestone. TopMob has shared exclusive news about this upcoming event. Recently, at an event, Kareena spoke candidly about Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, one of the movies being re-released during the festival. She admitted that she was merely following director Karan Johar’s directions while portraying her character Poo, and even referred to herself as a fan of the film.

At a gathering prior to the Kareena Kapoor Khan Film Festival, an interviewer inquired about her favorite film among those she’s made. Kareena replied that it was “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham,” stating, “Much like many others around the globe, I find myself a fan of this movie too due to its portrayal of family, tradition, and the heartwarming sentiment.

Regarding the beloved character of Pooja, or simply Poo, Kareena shared, “While we were filming Poo, I was merely following Karan’s directives.” She acknowledged at the time that it was a lively character, but she didn’t foresee its enduring popularity in later years. Kareena stated that no one back then envisioned other characters being inspired by Poo. She mentioned that this wasn’t the plan initially, but it turned out to be so.

Kareena explained, “Sometimes magic simply occurs, and you’re never truly aware when you’re bringing it about.” Similarly, she reminisced about Geet from Jab We Met, mentioning an unexpected occurrence during the filming of both Tashan and the romantic comedy at the same time. She had believed that Tashan would be exceptional, but it was Jab We Met that captured people’s hearts more instead.

From September 20th to 27th, 2024, the Kareena Kapoor Khan Film Festival is scheduled to take place. Cinemas will provide fans with a chance to re-experience some of her iconic movies.

Previously, Kareena shared about the film festival on her Instagram. Her post read, “The passion in my heart, the enchantment on screen… a job I adore… the fire that burns within… here’s to the next 25. Thank you to @pvrcinemas_official and @inoxmovies for organizing this wonderful festival… I am deeply moved.

Meanwhile, her latest movie The Buckingham Murders is currently running in theaters.
