As a huge fan of “The Boys,” I’m both excited and sad to hear that the final season will be releasing in 2026. It feels like just yesterday when we were introduced to Billy Butcher, played brilliantly by Karl Urban, and his team of anti-heroes taking on Vought International and their superpowered villains.
As a long-time fan of “The Boys” series, I was disappointed but not entirely surprised by Eric Kripke’s confirmation earlier this summer that the show would be ending with season five. Having followed the development of the storyline and the brilliant performances of its cast, especially Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, it felt like an unfortunate yet inevitable decision.
In a touching Instagram post, Urban enthusiastically shared his delight of collaborating with Jeffrey Dean Morgan, stating, “Working with the esteemed @jeffreydeanmorgan made my day exceptional every single day. For now, that’s all I have to share about ‘The Boys’ on Prime Video. I’ll be back in…two years (if only it were sooner) for the last season.” The post included a few behind-the-scenes photos of Urban and Morgan. During the fourth season, Urban acted alongside the primary cast members Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and Cameron Crovetti. Joining this season as recurring characters were Susan Heyward, Valorie Curry, Jessie T. Usher, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
Kripke launched the hit Prime Video series in 2019, deviating from Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s 2006 comic book. Fans find the show unpredictable due to these differences. Previously, Kripke shared his reasons for concluding the show after five seasons. He mentioned, “As a screenwriter, three and five are significant numbers. Three represents movie acts, while TV acts number five. Jokes follow a three-for-five pattern. Five is a satisfying length to tell a story and reach a climax without overstaying its welcome.” Kripke had kept the ending a secret for some time, expressing relief in finally announcing it.
The Boys fans will just have to wait until 2026 for the finale.
