Karla Sofía Gascón Thanks Academy, Congratulates Winners in Post-Oscars Message

On a Monday following the Oscars, Karla Sofía Gascón expressed gratitude to the Academy and congratulated the winners in a post-event message. This gesture marked the end of an actress’ PR predicament that started over a month ago when racially insensitive social media posts from her past re-emerged.

I’m thrilled to pieces for being nominated for best actress by the esteemed Academy! They invited me to the grand ceremony, and let me tell you, it was an absolute blast. Jimmy Kimmel as the host? Simply outstanding! He’s becoming more and more like the legendary Conan O’Brien with each passing day.

Gascón went on to say she “loved hugging so many friends and colleagues on this return.”

After the recent uproar, Gascón opted to stay out of the spotlight, missing both the SAG Awards over the weekend and the Oscars red carpet on Sunday. However, at the Cesar Awards in France last Friday, she expressed her gratitude to The Hollywood Reporter, stating that she was “thankful to be back” and “appreciative to everyone who’s supported me – to Netflix, the production company, and my fellow team members.” She closed by saying this concludes a “beautiful and challenging journey” that started three years ago.

During the Oscars, Karla Gascón chose not to walk on the red carpet. From her seat in the audience, she chuckled as host Conan O’Brien jokingly reminded her, “Karla, just a heads-up: when tweeting about the Oscars, remember that Jimmy Kimmel is actually your host.” (This version maintains the original meaning and flow, but uses simpler language and adjusts the structure of the sentence for easier reading.)

Per her post Monday, it would appear she also followed his directions.

In her final remarks, Gascón extended congratulations to all the victors, applauded Zoe Saldaña for her award-winning role as Emilia Pérez, and cheered on Clément Ducol and Camille for their win in the category of Best Song for “El Mal.
