Kathryn Hahn Loved Finally Meeting Parks & Rec Co-Star in Agatha All Along

As a devoted fan of both Parks and Recreation and Agatha All Along, I can’t help but feel like I’ve stumbled upon a magical convergence of two of my favorite TV worlds. Seeing Aubrey Plaza and Kathryn Hahn share the screen for the first time since their days in Pawnee feels like a long-awaited reunion that I never knew I needed.

It’s surprising that Aubrey Plaza’s portrayal of a witch on TV has only happened now. In the fresh Marvel Studios/Disney+ series, “Agatha All Along,” she joins her “Parks and Recreation” co-star Kathryn Hahn once more. Reprising her role from “WandaVision,” Hahn plays Agatha Harkness, a mischievous witch who has lost her powers and gathers a coven to reclaim The Witches Path (beware of the tune). In this new show, Plaza and Hahn share ample screen time as she portrays Rio Vidal, an adversary of Agatha’s. Interestingly, despite working together on “Parks & Rec,” their characters never interacted on-screen before.

At the red carpet event for Agatha All Along, Kathryn Hahn shared her joy with The Hollywood Reporter about working alongside her fellow actors from Parks & Rec. She described the experience as a long-cherished dream. Aubrey Plaza portrayed April Ludgate, an integral character in the Pawnee parks department since the series’ debut. Hahn joined the cast as Jen Barkley, a cunning campaign manager, in Season 4 and reprised her role in later seasons. Although April was romantically involved with Andy Dwyer (Chris Pratt), and Jen Barkely posed a formidable political foe to Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) and Ben Wyatt (Adam Scott), their characters’ storylines never overlapped. Hahn added:

In Parks & Rec, we had never shared a scene before. However, I believe we might have crossed paths in the hallways. It was remarkable that our first real collaboration turned out to be this project. She’s an incredibly talented actress, and having the chance to work with her was delightful.

Could Parks and Recreation Get a Reboot?

Similar to many beloved sitcoms from the 2000s and 2010s, such as “The Office”, there have been ongoing speculations about a possible “Parks & Recreation” comeback ever since its finale in 2015. The heartfelt conclusion depicted various characters from the Pawnee Parks department moving on to different paths, offering glimpses into their future lives. To date, NBC has not confirmed any plans for a revival/reboot, but this hasn’t prevented the show’s cast members from expressing their thoughts on the matter.

Recently, Rashida Jones (the one who portrays Ann Perkins) expressed her readiness for a revival of Parks and Recreation. The actress casually mentioned that the cast members frequently communicate through several group chat platforms. She suggested that if there’s a compelling reason, it’s likely that everyone from the original series would participate in a potential reboot. Jones herself stated:

We’re still pals, and we keep in touch through a group text. We chat regularly, and it’s clear that we care deeply for one another. If there was ever an opportunity or motivation to reunite, that would be fantastic! However, I’m not keen on reassembling just for the sake of it, especially if there are no fresh ideas involved. But absolutely, if the timing is right and the reason is sound, we’d all be game.
