As a seasoned observer of the Bollywood landscape, I must say that the journey of these stars from the silver screen to the business world is nothing short of inspiring. From Katrina Kaif‘s beauty empire flourishing to Hrithik Roshan’s fitness brand hitting the Rs 1000 crore mark, it’s clear that they’ve got the right recipe for success.
Following a prosperous journey in Bollywood and amassing numerous devoted followers, various actors aspired to venture into entrepreneurship by launching brands that reflected their personalities. Nevertheless, only a select few managed to convert their companies into financially sound entities. Notably, recent findings suggest that Katrina Kaif’s Kay Beauty and Hrithik Roshan’s HRX have been experiencing profits. Regrettably, Deepika Padukone’s skincare line, 82°E, is grappling with significant losses.
According to a report by Storyboard18, Katrina Kaif’s beauty line, Kay Beauty, is currently leading in popularity and generating profits. This joint venture with Nykaa boasts over 1.5 million customers. Moreover, Falguni Nayar, the Executive Chairperson, Founder, and CEO of a prominent beauty company, noted that Katrina’s brand was the third most sought-after on their platform. Additionally, Kay Beauty ranked among the top three brands in Nykaa stores and is projected to increase by 62%.
Simultaneously, Hrithik Roshan’s fitness and apparel brand HRX saw exponential growth and surpassed the revenue milestone of 1000 crores. On the other hand, newly-minted mom Deepika Padukone ventured into entrepreneurship by launching her skincare brand 82°E. However, financial reports indicate a setback for her company, with an EBITDA loss of Rs 25.1 crore during the same period, as per a recent publication’s report.
Beyond her, Virat Kohli’s earnings from WRONG decreased significantly, dropping from approximately Rs 344.3 crore in FY23 to Rs 243.75 crore during FY24. Similarly, Anushka Sharma’s income through Nush has also experienced a decline. Furthermore, it was reported that Salman Khan’s brand, Being Human, is facing difficulties in generating profits due to market saturation.
Alia Bhatt, a National Award-winning actress, has been added to the group of celebrities managing businesses. During her pregnancy with daughter Raha Kapoor, she launched her children’s clothing brand, Ed-a-Mamma. Subsequently, it was reportedly bought by Reliance Retail, led by Isha Ambani. The company’s income grew to approximately Rs 16.2 crore in the fiscal year 2022.
Besides Kriti Sanon (Hyphen), Sonam and Rhea Kapoor’s brand (Rheson), Shahid Kapoor’s (Skult), Mira Kapoor’s (Akind), Priyanka Chopra’s hair care line (Anomaly Haircare), there are also other celebrities who own their own brands.
