Katy Perry’s New Music Video Investigated by Spain Over Possible Damage to Protected Dunes

As a long-time Katy Perry fan with a soft spot for her quirky style and catchy tunes, I must admit that I was initially excited about her latest music video for “Lifetimes.” However, the news of the filming taking place in protected dunes without permission has left me feeling rather disappointed.

As a gamer putting on my detective hat, I’ve stumbled upon some intriguing news: It turns out that the team behind Katy Perry’s newest music video might be in hot water. Seems like they filmed in the guarded dunes of the Balearic Islands without obtaining the necessary permissions first. Quite a slip-up, huh?

The video for Perry’s latest single titled “Lifetimes,” directed by Stillz and taken from her sixth studio album “143,” depicts the singer enjoying parties and clubbing on Mediterranean islands. However, Spanish authorities announced on Tuesday that they hadn’t given permission to shoot on the eco-protected island of S’Espalmado in Formentera, as filming was conducted without their approval on sensitive ecological land.

Authorities are examining potential harm to the sand dunes; however, neither Perry nor the production team will face prosecution for an “environmental offense” as filming and photographing can be granted permission upon request.

The ministry responsible for protecting the region stated that the film production company never sought permission from them to film, which is why an initial inquiry has begun.

I’ve eagerly reached out to both the production company, WeOwnTheCity, and Perry’s representatives, hoping for some valuable insights regarding the latest developments in their project.

The popular music artist has unveiled two songs titled “Woman’s World” and “Lifetimes” before the scheduled September 20th release of their album, “143”. Unfortunately, both singles have been met with lukewarm responses from both critics and the singer’s devoted fanbase. Notably, their previous album, “Smile”, reached the no. 5 spot on the Billboard 200 charts in the year 2020.
