As a cinephile eagerly awaiting the upcoming James Bond movie, there’s been a lot of chatter about what’s in store for us. Interestingly, Ke Huy Quan, who’s making a comeback with hits like “Everything Everywhere All At Once” and “Loki” Season 2, has thrown his hat into the ring to play a villain. Frankly, I’m rooting for him to get the part. Fingers crossed, Bond producers!
Quan discussed his upcoming February 2025 action movie, “Love Hurts,” with Empire. During the conversation, the former ‘Goonies’ star expressed his enthusiasm for playing a villain reminiscent of a classic James Bond antagonist or delving into grittier roles like those in “Heretic.” He mentioned his eagerness to venture into uncharted territories, finding it exhilarating, and expressed his belief that such a role would be thrilling.
I’m quite eager to take on the role of an antagonist, similar to a Bond villain or like the character Hugh Grant portrays in Heretic. To be honest, it appeals to me to challenge myself by stepping outside my comfort zone and bring to life this truly wicked character. It sounds like it would be quite enjoyable!
As a passionate movie enthusiast, I’m eagerly searching for where I can lend my support to Ke Huy Quan’s bid! I’m absolutely behind this fantastic idea! It brings to mind Rachel McAdams in “Mean Girls” and her transformative role as Regina George, disrupting the high school hierarchy. On a similar note, Quan’s extensive action background spanning over a decade makes him an ideal candidate, and I have no doubt he possesses the versatility to bring that wicked charm to life. Now, where can I sign that petition? Let’s make this happen!
In the Bond world after Daniel Craig, numerous actors such as Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, and Henry Cavill have expressed interest in playing the character, yet none have been officially chosen based on current standards. The debate over who would be suitable for the role has become more focused, but a definitive choice remains elusive. A rumor circulated about Josh O’Connor being cast, but he denied it.

Apologies to Sydney Sweeney, but I’ve got a hunch that another actress with total badassery is more likely to be the next Bond girl.
Or in another way:
I believe it’s less probable that Sydney Sweeney and more likely we’ll see a totally kick-ass actress as the next Bond girl.
Some people think it’s time for the classic spy series to break away from traditional casting and consider either a person of color or a woman for the role of James Bond. Historically, the James Bond films have been quite conventional in their character choices. Expanding the range of options could bring fresh perspectives and attract more audiences. As for the villain in future installments, I’m hoping that Quan will make an appearance, a character originally created by Ian Fleming.
Regarding Bond 26, whoever ends up being involved in it will likely bring something unexpected to the table (as of now, we don’t know who has secured the role). However, I sincerely hope that the producers of 007 consider Ke Huy Quan’s proposal and offer him a villainous role in future films. The actor from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is eagerly anticipating the opportunity to portray a sinister character.
