As a long-time fan who’s followed Kehlani‘s journey from the streets of Oakland to the big stage, I can’t help but feel a sense of pride and joy as she graced the Tiny Desk. Her smooth vocals and captivating performances have always been a testament to her talent, and this set was no exception.
After unveiling her latest album, “Crash,” on June 21st, artist Kehlani has now graced the stage at NPR’s Tiny Desk.
At the performance, the Oakland-born artist showcased her distinctive R&B tunes and velvety voice at a well-attended yet cozy live music event. Kicking off with “Night Like This,” a track from her 2019 mixtape While We Wait, Kehlani continued with a setlist that included “Distraction” (from 2017’s SweetSexySavage, ), “The Way” (from 2015’s You Should Be Here, ), “Can I” (from 2020’s It Was Good Until It Wasn’t) and “After Hours” (from Crash).
After her performance of ‘Nights Like This’, Kehlani expressed gratitude for everyone attending her show at the Tiny Desk, saying “It’s been a while since I’ve had the chance to do this, so thank you for helping me make it happen now in my creative journey. I’m truly appreciative and I hope you continue to enjoy the rest of the performance.”
Apart from making an appearance at the Tiny Desk, Kehlani will commence her Crash World Tour on September 4, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Accompanied by special performers Flo and Anycia, the tour schedule includes a total of 32 stops across North America before it continues further.
