On Tuesday, I confirmed on X that a story is coming up in the New York Post about Olivia Nuzzi and me dating in the past. To set the record straight, yes, we did date, but we didn’t go out of our way to hide it. Honestly, I thought no one cared or noticed. Regarding the RFK matter, there’s no connection whatsoever. I also assumed that our relationship had already been covered online somewhere. To my surprise, most of it was quite pleasant and, believe it or not, wholesome. In fact, it was Olivia who introduced me to getting a dog, and for that, I will always be grateful to her.
In simpler terms, the New York Post plans to publish a piece revealing that Olivia Nuzzi and I were previously in a relationship. This information is accurate. We didn’t make much effort to keep it secret, and I thought people wouldn’t care. It has no connection to the RFK matters. I also assumed it had already been disclosed as part of earlier coverage.

Previously employed at MSNBC, ESPN, and CNN, the host playfully hinted at an extended discussion on Countdown, saying, “If someone insists on bringing up this topic, I’m not handing them the story. Am I some kind of a free news network? However, let me caution you: it’s rather uneventful.” (On the podcast, he elaborated by stating, “I’m not the ‘Nuzzi Nudes Network’, doling out free stories here,” alluding to allegations that Nuzzi sent suggestive photos of herself to RFK Jr.)
Olbermann disclosed that he and Nuzzi were together for approximately three years before they amicably split up. At the time, she was in her early twenties, while he was in his mid-fifties. “We shared pets, tattoos, and jewelry, and as with many relationships, it started off well, but things changed, we tried to fix it, and eventually it came to an end,” he explained. “Overall, the relationship was surprisingly ordinary.
In the course of our relationship, we did some rather peculiar things together, but she played a significant role in igniting my passion for man’s best friend. I vividly remember the day she stood by me as I brought home Stevie, my cherished pup. If Olivia ever finds herself needing support, I’d be there for her just as she has been for me and Stevie over the years. We’ve both dedicated our lives to this furry companion, and next Monday marks the anniversary of when I was fortunate enough to be adopted by him, thanks largely to Olivia teaching me the ropes of canine companionship.
In recent days, Olivia Nuzzi has been at the center of a media uproar due to her leave of absence and rumors about her relationship with Kennedy, who was not mentioned in New York magazine’s initial announcement on the subject. According to their statement, “Olivia Nuzzi, our Washington Correspondent, has admitted to the magazine’s editors that she had a personal relationship with a previous topic related to the 2024 campaign while she was covering the campaign. This action violates the magazine’s guidelines regarding conflicts of interest and disclosures.
In one of her own words, Nuzzi expressed apologies to her coworkers. She admitted that earlier this year, some communications between herself and a former reporting subject had become personal. During this period, she neither reported on the subject nor used them as a source. The relationship was not physical, but it should have been disclosed to avoid any semblance of conflict.
