Prior to his half-time show, many particulars were shrouded in secrecy. Yet, during a previous press conference, he hinted at something exciting, suggesting that the performance would involve “narrative” that would enable his largest audience to date to become fully engaged with his music.

This week has been quite hectic for Lamar, who just recently celebrated his five Grammy wins on Sunday. His anthem “Not Like Us” was a big hit at the 2025 awards ceremony, winning Grammys for song of the year, record of the year, best rap song, best music video, and best rap performance.

Last year when “Not Like Us” dropped, it wasn’t just a big moment for music culture, it was proof yet again that Lamar is continuously pushing the boundaries of rap. At first, it was one of many tracks he put out in our ongoing feud with Drake, but it quickly became an international and cultural anthem, even reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100. As a gamer, I feel like we’re both leveling up, but Lamar is definitely ahead in this game.

The track is involved in a lawsuit for defamation, filed by Drake against Universal Music Group – their shared record label. Drake alleges that the release of “Not Like Us” demonstrates prioritizing “financial gain over the welfare and health of its artists.” Kendrick Lamar, on the other hand, has labeled Drake as a pedophile and accused him of cultural appropriation in the song.

Speaking of SZA, she enriched the Super Bowl celebration by appending four tunes to her album’s deluxe version titled “SOS Deluxe: LANA“. The fresh tracks are “Joni” featuring Don Toliver, “Take You Down”, “Open Arms (only SZA)” and “PSA”.
