Kendrick Lamar to Headline 2025 Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show

As a long-time fan who has witnessed Kendrick Lamar’s phenomenal rise to fame, I can confidently say that his selection as the headliner for the 2025 Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show is nothing short of a masterstroke. His electrifying performance at the 2022 hip-hop extravaganza was just a taste of what he’s capable of, and I can hardly wait to see what he has in store for us this time around.

Kendrick Lamar is set to headline the 2025 Apple Music Super Bowl LIX halftime show.

On Sunday, it was announced that Roc Nation, the NFL, and Apple Music have set February 9, 2025, as the date for a major event. This event will unfold at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, and it will be televised on Fox.

Previously, Lamar graced the stage during the 2022 halftime show focused on hip-hop, which featured Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and 50 Cent. This impressive lineup, together with executive producers Jay-Z and Jesse Collins, were awarded the Emmy for outstanding live variety special due to their remarkable performance. For his upcoming performance, creative direction will be guided by pgLang, a creative agency established by Lamar and his frequent collaborator Dave Free, who has primarily directed or co-directed Lamar’s music videos.

“Lamar, who’s 37, declares that rap music remains the most influential genre today. He promises to keep reinforcing this fact. He believes he’s exactly the right person for the job.

Jay-Z and his Roc Nation enterprise are set to produce the half-time show once more, marking their sixth consecutive year. The hip-hop legend and entrepreneur recently received his second Emmy award for co-directing Rihanna’s 2023 half-time performance with Hamish Hamilton, making him one of the few Black directors to win in the exceptional directing for a variety special category. This year’s half-time show, starring Usher, was nominated for three Emmys and established itself as the most-watched half-time performance ever staged.

Kendrick Lamar is an extraordinary artist and performer who comes along only once in a generation. His deep passion for hip-hop and its culture shapes his artistic perspective. With an unmatched capacity to shape and impact global culture, Kendrick’s artistry extends beyond music, leaving a lasting impression that will be felt for many years.” (statement by Jay-Z)

Lamar has achieved both critical acclaim and commercial success ever since he launched his 2011 mixtape, Section.80, followed by his major-label debut in 2012 with good kid, m.A.A.d city. To date, he has received a total of 17 Grammy Awards, and his album DAMN. from 2017 even won the Pulitzer Prize for music, making him the first non-classical or jazz artist to be awarded this prestigious honor. Additionally, Lamar was nominated for an Oscar in the best original song category for “All the Stars” from Black Panther in 2018.

This year, he took the number one spot on the Billboard charts with the powerful songs “Not Like Us” and “Like That,” featuring Future and Metro Boomin.

In his statement, Seth Dudowsky, the NFL’s head of music, praises Kendrick Lamar by saying that few artists have influenced music and culture as deeply as he has. Time after time, Kendrick demonstrates his exceptional skill at creating moments that resonate, redefine, and fundamentally alter hip-hop. We are thrilled about our collaboration with Kendrick, Roc Nation, and Apple Music to deliver yet another unforgettable Halftime Show.
