Nevertheless, he remained unfazed about the potential consequences on the movie’s public response. In just two more weeks, audiences can witness Hugh Jackman reprise his role as Wolverine in theaters for the first time in seven years, this time integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The initial glimpse of Jackman donning the Wolverine persona wasn’t unveiled via an official press statement or trailer, but rather through leaked photos taken by paparazzi.

In an interview with Variety, I, Kevin Feige, spoke about the leaked set photos from our production of “Deadpool & Wolverine.” These images emerged as we filmed at authentic locations instead of using a studio green screen. However, I’m not disappointed by this decision to shoot on location. On the contrary, it adds an element of excitement and anticipation among fans.

We placed great significance on making this authentic rather than using green screens for all the backdrops. It was crucial for us to bring it into the real world, despite the inherent challenges. Mostly, we operated in protected areas and distant sites, except for the occasional drone surveillance.

The initial leaked images revealed Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman donning the authentic comic-book outfits of their characters for the first time in a big-screen production – a groundbreaking moment for Wolverine. It’s unclear if this leak was intended to be kept under wraps until the debut of the official trailer, but Feige remained unfazed by it. Shooting photos of movies during filming can sometimes disappoint viewers with an unfinished product, yet Feige is confident in the appeal of Wolverine’s yellow suit, asserting that its on-screen appearance will not be diminished by early glimpses. He added:

Having paparazzi drones hovering above the film set was a novelty for me. While behind-the-scenes images can appear intriguing at times, they seldom do justice to the final product. People have become wise to this fact over the years. However, Wolverine in his yellow suit always looks impressive from any perspective – be it through a drone’s lens or peeking through trees.
