As a seasoned gamer and Marvel enthusiast with over two decades of immersion into the expansive world of superheroes, I can hardly contain my excitement about the impending arrival of the X-Men in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The anticipation has been building like a crescendo, ever since Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, and it seems that our wait is finally coming to an end.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues its robust run, appearing both on the big screen and streaming via Disney+, without any signs of waning. Ever since Disney took over 20th Century Fox, fans have been eagerly anticipating the appearance of the X-Men in a future Marvel film. In a recent interview, Kevin Feige announced the timeline for when this team of mutants will make their debut, so hold on tight!
For several years now, certain X-Men characters have made appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Hugh Jackman reprising his role as Logan in “Deadpool & Wolverine”. However, fans who have followed the Marvel films chronologically are eagerly anticipating the entire team to come together on the big screen. During a presentation at the Disney APAC Showcase (as reported by Deadline), he provided an estimated timeframe for when we’ll witness the mutant squad unite. To quote him directly:
In the upcoming films, you’ll notice that some familiar X-Men characters will carry on the storyline. Following this, the tale of Secret Wars will pave the way for a new era not only for mutants but also for the X-Men. It’s truly a dream come true, as we have finally managed to bring back the X-Men.
Here it is. It appears that Feige and his team have devised a strategy for the X-Men movie, but it seems likely that this won’t occur until after the release of Avengers: Secret Wars in theaters. However, to keep fans excited in the meantime, some X-Men characters will make appearances in various projects initially. I’m thinking specifically about Avengers: Doomsday.
Fans will need to keep their excitement in check as they await the grand entry of the X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, we can look forward to seeing some well-known characters from the X-Men lore soon. Given the phenomenal success of Deadpool and Wolverine together, it seems plausible that these two iconic figures could appear in the upcoming Avengers movies.
Fans eagerly anticipate the comeback of Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch in the upcoming Avengers films by the Russo Brothers. Although she seemingly perished at the end of Doctor Strange 2, her character remains hugely popular. The clamor for her return has grown even stronger since Agatha All Along was aired.
In some more current Marvel Cinematic Universe productions, there have been several significant ties to the X-Men that have arisen. For example, it was verified that Ms. Marvel is indeed a mutant, and in the post-credits scene of The Marvels, we see Beast.
Given the ongoing Multiverse storyline, it appears that almost any event could unfold within the Marvel Cinematic Universe at this point. However, fans might want to relax and catch their breaths until after the next two Avengers films have premiered in cinemas.
Upcoming in theaters, “Captain America: Brave New World” will be shown on Valentine’s Day, February 14th. In the meantime, take a look at the scheduled release dates for movies in 2025.
