Kevin Feige Reveals if Another Actor Will Play Wolverine in the MCU

As a die-hard fan of the X-Men and Wolverine in particular, I can’t help but be excited by the recent news that another actor will eventually take over the mantle from Hugh Jackman. Don’t get me wrong, Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine is iconic and unforgettable, but as Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige pointed out, these characters will be around for another 100 years, and it’s only natural that new actors step into the roles.

Could a new actor replace Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in the MCU after his appearance in “Deadpool & Wolverine”? According to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, the answer is yes. In an interview with Discussing Film, Feige advised anyone taking on the role not to attempt an imitation of Jackman’s portrayal.

Certainly!

It seems almost certain that a new Wolverine will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe eventually. Yet, it’s unlikely this will occur soon. Given the success of Logan and the upcoming X-Men MCU reboot, though, can the studio truly keep this beloved character sidelined for an extended period?

Although it may take some time before another character dons Wolverine’s extraordinarily pointed hair, the duo of Deadpool and Wolverine, featuring Jackman’s beloved portrayal, might not be a one-time appearance. Previously, Logan in 2017 was believed to mark the end of the actor’s tenure as Marvel’s icon. However, with this year’s Deadpool sequel pulling him into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is it possible that Jackman will feature in future Avengers films?

Jackman’s final notable appearance as Wolverine is likely to be in “Avengers: Secret Wars” in 2027. The studio is undoubtedly excited about the prospect of having him act alongside characters like Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man, as the studio continues to embrace fan service shamelessly while approaching the conclusion of The Multiverse Saga.

In the upcoming movie “Deadpool & Wolverine,” opening in theaters tomorrow, audiences will find Jackman once again portraying Wolverine alongside Reynolds as Deadpool. This film is helmed by director Shawn Levy, who co-wrote the screenplay with Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells. In “Deadpool & Wolverine,” these characters are introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe when they receive a new assignment from the Time Variance Authority (TVA). This task involves traveling through the chaos of the multiverse for an exciting new adventure.

According to MovieWeb’s Julian Roman, the reviews are out and both Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have treated fans to a satisfying experience.

In a thrilling and humorous adventure that seamlessly blends the universes of Fox, Marvel, and Disney, Deadpool and Wolverine take us on an epic R-rated journey. Filled with heart, laughter, and bravery, this tale is a delicious feast for fans, artfully poking fun at corporate mergers while celebrating cherished comic book heroes.

The American release date for the film featuring Deadpool and Wolverine is set for July 26, 2024, within Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s production schedule.
