The clock is ticking for one of the biggest fashion events – the MET Gala 2025! It’s just a few hours away, and we can hardly contain our excitement about what this year will bring us. From a Bollywood perspective, the anticipated debut of Shah Rukh Khan at this prestigious event has got us all hooked. As everyone watches with bated breath for King Khan to grace the red carpet, let’s take a look back at designer Sabyasachi’s journey at the MET Gala over the years.

Sabyasachi’s MET Gala debut in 2024

Last year, Sabyasachi Mukherjee not only had Alia Bhatt shining brightly on the red carpet, but he also made history by making his own debut as well.

As a lifestyle aficionado, I’m thrilled to share that I recently made history by being the first Indian designer to grace the MET Gala red carpet. I exuded elegance in an ensemble straight from my Resort 2024 collection. To add a touch of sparkle, I adorned myself with a captivating duster coat intricately embroidered and accessorized with tourmalines, pearls, emeralds, and diamonds from none other than Sabyasachi High Jewellery.

Last year’s theme being “Garden Of Time”, Alia Bhatt gracefully made her debut in a stunning Sabyasachi saree. During an interview on the red carpet, the actress revealed her affection for the enduring elegance of a saree, opting for this traditional Indian wear to leave an indelible impression.

In a stunning pastel green outfit embellished with intricate silk floss blossoms, glass beads, and genuine gemstones such as emeralds, pearls, and sapphires, the actress portraying Gangubai Kathiawadi sparkled radiantly.

At the MET Gala 2022, Natasha Poonawalla didn’t just catch people’s attention but sparked a frenzy online as well. Her stunning gold Sabyasachi saree was simply breathtaking, adorned with exquisite embroidery. She complemented the look with a striking Schiaparelli bustier that added a sculptural touch to her overall ensemble.

A shiny crown accentuated her appearance, undeniably transforming it into a striking warrior-prince ensemble. Stacks of intricate bangles, large rings, and combined headgear-earrings embellished her attire, adding a modern touch to her traditional Indian style.

To be honest, Sabyasachi never fails to amaze us with his designs at the MET Gala, and we’re certain that this year will leave us equally stunned with Shah Rukh Khan’s appearance.
