Kieron Moore and Rose Ayling-Ellis Didn’t Have a Chemistry Test for ‘Code of Silence’

The crime drama titled “Code of Silence” made its debut on ITV and ITVX in the U.K. on Sunday, and it will become available on streaming service BritBox in the U.S. and Canada in July. In this series, Rose Ayling-Ellis portrays Alison, a resolute deaf woman employed at a police canteen who is enlisted to apply her lip-reading abilities to a secret undercover mission.

The show, penned by Catherine Moulton (known for “Baptiste” and “Hijack”) and starring Kieron Moore, Charlotte Ritchie, and Andrew Buchan, is significantly contributing to the portrayal of deaf characters in a fresh, new light on screen.

During a recent gathering of the show’s cast, Moore revealed how playing his character Liam, who appears to share a unique bond with Alison in the first episode, affected him personally.

He mentioned that neither Rose nor he took a chemistry test, which seemed unbelievable to him. He emphasized that they had formed a strong connection almost immediately, as they had only met on the first day of filming for their show.” Their initial scene was actually from a later episode, where their characters had already experienced various events together.

Moore mentioned that one of his favorite scenes is particularly noteworthy since it highlights the fact that genuine care and attention can make chemistry unavoidable. He felt incredibly secure with Rose, and many who meet her will likely agree that they’ve never truly been listened to as intently before. Rose pays such close attention when you speak that being around her constantly encourages personal growth, both as a person and an actor. This seems to be something Moore shares with Liam.

Regarding his personality, Moore added this insight: “Liam has faced a number of difficulties in the past, and he’s extremely cautious. Yet, he finds this individual as a beacon of positivity.

The “Code of Silence” is overseen by executive producers Bryony Arnold and Damien Timmer from ITV Studios’ Mammoth Screen, in collaboration with Robert Schildhouse and Stephen Nye for BritBox. Furthermore, Ayling-Ellis and Moulton are also involved in the production process.
