Warning! This discussion dives into the April 3 episode of ‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ titled ‘Don’t You (Forget About Me).’ If you haven’t watched it yet, don’t worry – you can catch up on Hulu!
As a devoted fan, I must say, the simmering tension between Kim Raver’s Teddy and Sophia Bush’s Cass on Grey’s Anatomy has been a long time coming. In the recently aired episode from the 2025 TV schedule, their undeniable attraction reached its boiling point. The opening up of Teddy and Owen’s marriage served as the ideal platform for something momentous to unfold, and Teddy’s out-of-town conference provided the ideal backdrop. In a candid interview, Raver discussed the steamy hookup between her characters, emphasizing the significance of having an intimacy coordinator involved in the process.
Enthusiasts have been eagerly anticipating Sophia Bush’s addition to the cast of Grey’s Anatomy during its 21st season, playing Cass Beckman, who is Owen Hunt’s current source of jealousy. The moment everyone was waiting for finally arrived when she and Teddy Altman left a conference for a passionate hotel room kissing session. Kim Raver, not only a star in this steamy scene but also the director of “Don’t You (Forget About Me),” highlighted the significance of employing an intimacy coordinator. The actress who portrays Teddy explained to THR that it was crucial for her that they utilized such a professional.
In our production, we employed an intimacy advisor to ensure everything was carefully planned and consensual. It was crucial for me as a director that both myself and Sophia felt secure during the scene, so every one of her decisions were taken into account and she understood her voice mattered. This advisor helped us maintain a comfortable environment throughout.
It’s understandable that Kim Raver, as the director of that episode (being her second time in charge), would strive for equality in power dynamics between herself and Sophia Bush. After all, Teddy may not have ended up with Cass, but Kim had nothing but praise for Sophia Bush, whom she highly appreciates as a scene partner.
As a dedicated cinephile, I must say, it’s been an absolute joy collaborating with her. The experience has been nothing short of extraordinary. She possesses an unparalleled professionalism, a wit that keeps spirits high, and a collaborative spirit that makes every moment spent together feel like a creative adventure.
In the world of cinema, it’s invaluable to have a fellow woman supporting your journey, especially as a director. Her actions set the tone, lifting up others who are pushing boundaries creatively and professionally. It’s crucial for everyone to uplift each other in this industry, and she does just that.
Kim Raver explained that she drew inspiration from Debbie Allen when arranging the dance-like scene between Teddy and Cass in their hotel room. All moves were carefully planned ahead and rehearsed with the intimacy coordinator, who helped make any adjustments necessary to ensure the authenticity of her character’s actions. Raver further added:
Before we even started filming, there’s a series of processes you go through, and Sophia was simply outstanding. While shooting, I would often find myself adjusting Teddy’s actions based on new ideas that came up, which I refer to as intentions because they play a crucial role. The physical setup was all planned out, but the intentions revolved around when Teddy switches from being immersed in the moment to halting it. Directing Sophia and myself throughout the entire episode was an absolute joy.
It’s possible that Teddy has come to realize that an open marriage isn’t suitable for her. At the same time, it appears that Owen (Kevin McKidd) is making the most of the situation, as he was recently seen with Nora (Floriana Lima), a friend from his childhood. It seems that the truth will be revealed in the upcoming episode, as suggested by the preview below:
Teddy might have found out that an open marriage isn’t her cup of tea. Meanwhile, it seems like Owen (Kevin McKidd) is capitalizing on the situation since he was spotted with Nora (Floriana Lima), a childhood friend. The truth about this may be unveiled in the next episode, hinted by the preview below:
A constant feature of Grey’s Anatomy is the dramatic twists in the relationship between Teddy and Owen.
In other words, Kim Raver was vague about the possibility of Cass returning to the show, stating that she genuinely doesn’t have a clear answer. However, she is certain about one thing:
It definitely gets more complicated.
I’m ready for it! Don’t forget to catch up at 10 p.m. Eastern Time on Thursday, April 10th, on ABC (or you can watch it later on Hulu). You’ll see if Owen confesses about Nora and how Teddy responds. If you fancy a Grey’s Anatomy marathon, the first 20 seasons are available for streaming with a Netflix subscription as well.
