King: Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan starrer to ditch Christmas, Diwali and Eid release? Here’s what we know

Bollywood legend Shah Rukh Khan is readying himself for his upcoming movie titled “King.” This film, helmed by Siddharth Anand, marks a debut collaboration with SRK’s daughter Suhana Khan. The anticipation among fans has been palpable even prior to the start of production. According to recent reports, instead of targeting a release during Christmas, Diwali, or Eid celebrations, “King” is planned for a Gandhi Jayanti release in 2026.

Indeed, that’s accurate! According to Mid-day’s report, the filming of King commenced on May 21 at Mumbai’s renowned Mehboob Studios. Suhana Khan made her debut by taking part in her first scene. The initial day was brimming with star power, as Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana, and Saurabh Shukla participated in a 12-hour shoot, from morning to night. The team has a busy week ahead, working tirelessly without any breaks.

The report indicated that while filming is currently underway, the exact release date for the highly anticipated action movie has already been determined, and it’s set to premiere in theaters on October 2, 2026, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti, a significant holiday. Experts in the trade are reportedly impressed by this strategic decision and eagerly anticipate the film’s release on that date.

Previously, on May 20th, film director Siddharth Anand shared a mysterious message on his social media platform (which was Twitter at the time). The post simply read “Tomorrow,” accompanied by an emoji symbolizing evil eyes. Despite offering no additional information, it appeared he was suggesting that filming for ‘King’ would take place the following day. Rumors were circulating that production would commence on May 21st, a day ahead of Suhana Khan’s birthday, which falls on May 22nd.

For those unfamiliar, King is the second project that Shah Rukh Khan will work on with director Siddharth Anand, following Pathaan. Alongside Khan and Suhana, this film features notable performances by Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Jaideep Ahlawat, Abhishek Bachchan, and Abhay Verma in significant roles.
