KISS set to play live again but one band member is canceling shows

Over half a century has passed since KISS first took the stage for live performances. If that realization leaves you feeling a bit aged, I must admit it does the same for me. The band has seen its fair share of transitions, from using makeup to going without, then back again, and possibly sans makeup once more, at least for a special one-off show.

The KISS Army fan event takes place in Las Vegas from November 14-16 at the Virgin Hotel, celebrating the band’s 50th anniversary. It was previously unknown that the original band members would perform, but it has now been revealed that KISS themselves will take the stage, marking their first live performance in two years and doing so without their signature masks.

What’s the reasoning behind this? It seems they can do as they please. After all, we’ve seen them without masks before, so why such a fuss? While it might add to the atmosphere if they were in their makeup, seeing them without it should still be an enjoyable experience.

KISS make a big announcement and so does Gene Simmons

One original band member, Gene Simmons, is calling off a significant number of his solo performances – a total of 17. The reasons behind this decision remain uncertain, but it’s been confirmed that there are no health concerns involved. This seems plausible given the seemingly arbitrary nature of the shows being canceled.

There’s a possibility that concerts are just being rescheduled to 2026 instead of being outright canceled. Refunds have been offered for the shows that were either postponed or canceled, which could suggest uncertainty about their future. Here’s the contrast between the shows no longer happening and those still scheduled:

It’s possible that these concerts are being moved to 2026 rather than being called off altogether. The refund option for postponed/canceled shows might indicate some doubt about their future. This is a comparison between the shows that won’t take place and those that remain on the schedule:
