Having grown up listening to his soulful tunes, it warms my heart to see Google honoring him with such a heartfelt doodle.


In the 2000s, Krishnakumar Kunnath, affectionately known as KK, was adored by many as one of the most cherished singers. Today marks the anniversary of his Bollywood debut, and Google honored him with a unique animated doodle as a tribute. KK first appeared in Bollywood with the song “Chhod Aaye Hum” for the movie Maachis back in 1996. As a tribute to the deceased musician, Google designed an animated illustration showing him standing and singing into a microphone in his distinctive style, with the Google logo serving as the backdrop.

The background of the doodle included music notes and star emojis, representing his iconic romantic songs. This doodle was displayed for Google users in India and the United Kingdom. 

The Google Doodle honors Krishnakumar Kunnath, commonly known as KK, a prominent Indian playback singer admired for his versatility. He is fondly remembered for his ability to sing in multiple languages such as Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Bengali, Assamese, and Gujarati.

Google India posted a special tribute saying, “From sparking excitement with Ajab Si…to wrapping us in warmth with his voice in Tu Jo Mila. Reminiscing our beloved KK, Krishnakumar Kunnath, with this #GoogleDoodle. What was the first KK song you heard?

People were thrilled as they found a Google doodle dedicated to singer KK. Many took to social media platforms like Twitter or Instagram to thank Google for paying tribute to the deceased artist. In 1994, KK embarked on his musical journey, first by performing catchy jingle tunes. Later, he moved into playback singing. Some of his well-known tracks are Dil Ibaadat, Ankhon Mein Teri, India Wale, Tu Jo Mila, Ha Tu Hai, and many more. Sadly, the talented singer passed away on May 31, 2022, following a cardiac arrest after a performance in Kolkata.
