Kouros Maghsoudi's "Hug Bed" Makes a Statement in the Bedroom

As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for unique designs that reflect my own flair for self-indulgence and hedonism, I find the Hug Bed by Kouros Maghsoudi an absolute marvel! Coming from a life immersed in virtual worlds where comfort and style are paramount, this bed’s silhouette, inspired by fashion and streetwear, resonates deeply with me.

The New York-based designer Kouros Maghsoudi characterizes his design aesthetic as having a touch of “self-indulgent” or pleasure-seeking qualities. By skillfully combining form and materials, he strives to craft furniture that evokes specific moods and settings – and this is evident in his latest creation, the “Embrace Bed”.

Initially presented at a one-man exhibition in Mexico, Maghsoudi’s Hug Bed has since been revealed, and he refers to its color as “Satin White”. The plump structure, made from high-gloss fiberglass, encases the mattress, with every side gently molding around the person lying down, creating a soft curve.

The designer explains that regardless if you’re using it solo, with a partner, or in a crowd, the Hug Bed is crafted to meet all your needs. He further mentions that the design of the bed was influenced by fashion, particularly streetwear. He goes on to say that this bed combines the audacity of modern style with luxury, and the satin white hue introduces an element of sophistication and adaptability, transforming it into more than just a bed – it becomes a symbol of style and comfort.

When I unveiled my latest creation, I tapped into the artistic perspective of photographer Tanner Reese. He captured an editorial showcasing Lila Flowers, artfully styled by Lucy Rae McFadin. The aim? To solidify my reputation as a designer who seamlessly merges various creative fields to achieve a specific impact.

In a recent chat with Hypeform (the design division of TopMob), Maghsoudi discussed how he’s always finding new ways to refresh his creative methods. He explained that while his designs consistently tell a bold story of unrestrained luxury and self-indulgence, one key aim is to persistently seek out and test fresh materials and shapes. In the span of four collections, he’s displayed an array of materials ranging from traditional ones such as wood, aluminum, marble, steel, and ceramic, to less common options like fiberglass, fur, and even car exhaust pipes.

Maintaining a consistent message but always seeking new ways to present it helps me keep my work fresh and exciting. Each new series carries a unique twist, yet remains true to the indulgent storyline I’ve established.
